Vancouver Open House (Nov 19/20)

Role call, anybody? I was asked to update my RSVP to specify timeslot and if I'm bringing a guest. I'll be there for the morning slot tomorrow with my dad.

Aiming for Saturday morning, will be coming as a family unit. I should have asked if it was dog friendly though!

Notes so far:

1) They’re working on snow and ice buildup on the headlights.

2) They are planning on keeping the Bosch motors for the max pack but unclear on a motor switch for max later on.

3) Interior fit and finish is decent, vegan leather on interior doors feels cheap.

Yeah they were, they brought up some guys from HQ as well.

pressed them on a few questions on under carriage protection to items being deleted, didn’t get much of an answer.

Nope nothing, they wouldn’t really speak on it for “legal” reasons.

For anyone that’s around 6ft, rear seats are spacious enough that you can sit behind a 6ft driver in a comfortable position.

as An aside I noticed it’s one year today since I saw/drove an R1T at their first mile event in California. Would’ve been funny to be at this Vancouver event today.

I can confidently say, as a 6'7" guy with legs for days: legroom is 100% a non-issue. This is all the way back in an R1T.

Other thoughts:

• Red and Blue are GORGEOUS in person
• 0-60 in 3 seconds in an 8500lbs vehicle is ABSURD
• I love the headlights even more in person
• Some people asked me questions as if I were a staff member. Guess waiting for almost 4 years and soaking up all the info I can gives me an edge? ?
• Almost everybody was wearing similar style clothing (lots of plaid and puffy jackets) - they nailed the target demographic up here
• Reception from other people there was pretty positive overall
• No granola samples, sadly

First time actually seeing the R1T. The thing is really impressive. My wife is a hundred percent in on it, so that's a huge win.

I'd say it was a hugely succesful day for them, by the number of people there. Decided not to bug RJ but did talk to some other LA imports. Their enthusiasm for the product is infectious.

Missed out on a ride-along – when I signed up the wait was 1 hour and after 45 minutes it was going to be another 2 hours. They did say that test drives will be bookable out of Vancouver really soon. So that's encouraging.

Some additional photos, chatted up one of the HQ guys that was opening up the R1T parked outside, even showed me the lowest ride height setting to highest, surprisingly doesn’t take that long, compressors barely noticeable in terms of sound.

We waited 3+ hours for a ride. Waste of time, traffic was too bad in the area and we did a 5 minute loop on the side streets rolling along at a snail pace. Not at all their fault, but definitely not worth waiting around for 3 hours for (with two young kids and two dogs in our car waiting).

But overall great event. Super impressed with the vehicles and the colours look so much better in person than on a screen. Staff all seem really happy to be with the company

Talked with RJ for a few mins, which was great too. Impressed he came up.
