That’ll be an interesting setup in that size, will be curious on your efficiency impact.

It is odd the weight is so far off, published everywhere too.
It is to replace my 21" but retain the same diameter. I am expecting efficiency to take a hit, but the overall weight of tire and wheel is within a lb or 2 of the OE 21" setup, so it shouldn't be too bad.

I was wondering if I somehow got the load range E tires by accident, but part numbers match the SL tire, and load E tires are listed at 55 lbs in this size.

I had a Toyota Highlander hybrid for a number of years. I had to replace the tires about every 22,000 miles (and for a long time, there was one tire choice). By contrast, the tires on my XC90 lasted 40,000 miles or so with regular rotation. I’m not looking forward to frequent replacement of the 22” tires on my R1S.

anyone doing the 5 tire rotation?
I am doing 5 tire rotations. That being said I haven’t rotated them yet… I am under 5K miles currently. I am expecting to get at least 30,000 miles. Optimistic… maybe… but I do a lot of HWY driving. I previously had a raptor and couldn’t understand how people went through tires so quickly. I am not the most conservative driver in the world. I am also not punching it everywhere…

That is significantly different from the direction I received via Rivian chat. They said 55k for the tire life under normal use. Sounds like they at least have a mileage warranty.

Yes, I'm averaging my normal 5k and Rivian's 9k recommendation by doing every 7k miles. Front definitely get more wear, but all are even across the tire. I check inflation monthly and keep it at the 48psi. First alignment was around 8k after a high-center incident and another at 14k after it was serviced for unrelated issues.

EVs, torque and great handling and tires—like a kindergartener with a first seen rubber eraser. Many tire manufacturers are tuning tires for heavier EVs. Also 20inchers are tuned for off-roader use and will wear faster as a road tire. My Tesla X went through tires about every 18months, switched to Pirellis last go and still looking great over a year later but then again my retired life has reduced mileage —

I was informed by the SC today my R1T front tires are down to 3/32” and rear tires 5/32”, and that I should consider replacing within the next several thousand miles. It has only has 16k miles on it. I was told it’s not unusual given the trucks weight. I certainly should have had them rotated earlier. Even still I was shocked to realize this is going to be a regular maintenance item at about 20k miles. Is this what others are experiencing as well? I generally drive the truck pretty easy. Once and awhile I push its limits but that’s rare. With winter here I’m looking at a replacement now and that seems crazy. Maybe I just need to realize it’s what comes with having a heavy beast of a truck. Or maybe there are better tires?
Just replace them all last week after 22.000+ miles. I’ve had 2 tires rotation and the tires have some life remaining and I will use them for the next year (spring/fall). The same uneven tires worn…

The money you save on gas is consumed by tires
This has been largely my experience. My Teslas average a new set of tires every other year, and they switch between summer and winter tires. Every 4 years is a new set of snows.

What tires did you replace the originals with? The load rating is quite a bit lower than stock, 111 vs 115 (2403 vs 2679 lbs per tire).

This makes me sad. 125k miles on JGC and I've replaced them twice, with the most recent being at like 110k.

Hopefully manufacturers of both EV and tires will figure this out soon because spending $1-2k a year on tires isn't a good thing.

Get replacements with a long tread life warranty and use it. My Nokians (for a Tesla) have free replacement, not prorated, if they don’t last 50% of the rated mileage (and wear is even).

I had a 2011 JGC ( 168,000 miles) and now have a R1T

125,000 in a JGC is going to cost you close to $30,000 in gas
125,000 in a R1T is going to cost you about $6,500 in electric

125,000 in a JGC changing the oil every 7,500 miles is going to cost $1,666
125,000 In a R1T is going to cost you $0

I'm looking at $25,000 "savings"

You talked about 2 sets of tires in 125,000 and I'm thinking I might need 6. So 4 more at $1,400.

$19,600 in savings for a rocket ship seems worth it....

I'm not calling you out at all, this is just how I see it

Glad someone has really cheap electricity rate! I am close to 25 cents/kwh so I'm closer to $15k on 125k miles for R1T

If you have already explored day/night rates from the juice men, have you thought about solar? Can take the $6,500 to zero.

But I didn't want to be the extreme guy

Edit to say.... still 10g savings with my math
