Well that went fast at the end.

12/4 - 8 Steps opened
12/6 - 6 of 8 Steps complete (Rivian trade in on my 2013 Explorer was 1/2 carmax)
12/9 - Got schedule delivery email
12/10 - Pickup

A couple for notes:
  • Richmond, VA is only doing SC pickup now
  • Carmax honored my appraisal from Northern VA in Richmond
  • I went online and booked the earliest appointment which was 12/13 but the the SC reached out by text and was able to schedule me for next day pickup
  • My bank (Schwab) wasn't working with Plaid (http error 500) so I couldn't ACH. I ended up doing a wire transfer. What a stressful mess.
  • Step 7 must be complete by 4PM Eastern the day before pickup
I also found it interesting that there was no I owe/We owe sheet to sign as I've done in the past. Charger shipped soon after the 8 steps opened but still waiting on rails, mats and of course tonneau.

Thanks for sharing those details. I’ll be working with the Richmond location as well.
Did they tell you why they Are only doing SC pick ups? That seems odd.

Figured id give it a shot and reach out to CS on Saturday since my guide is unavailable on the weekends and I honestly dont want to bug my guide that much. So, asked how the R1 shop access works and if early 2022 order holders (like myself) can get access. Again I was told no and my updated delivery window will appear in January. More specifically I was told there are many people with 2018 and 2019 orders still waiting to receive their trucks and they get priority - I of course said I completely understand that and they should have priority over me 100%. I approached the question in a polite and friendly way, I get CS and guides have a lot on their plate with this year end push, but the responses I received seemed a bit more frank than the typical super friendly from Rivian peeps, im guessing they are getting a lot of these requests and tired of hearing it.

Wait continues.

Gosh, Seeing all of these VERY quick turnarounds is giving me hope for delivery in 2022. 8 steps opened on 12/7 and 6/8 steps completed on 12/7. Financing is ready the day I need it via cashier's check (Rivian allows this in CA, not sure elsewhere). I go on a trip on 12/27- if they can make it happen before I'll be on cloud 9!

Quick question Sbraab- on your 8 steps, did your 8th step ever change from "preparing vehicle" before delivery was ready?

Our truck will be at the Richmond SC when it’s ready, so good to know about pickup. Heck, we told our guide we’d pickup in Normal.

Good to know on Carmax. We are likely going to get rid of our Macan when the R1T comes and we’ve always had good luck with Carvana and Carmax.

Wires suck in general and good to know about Schwab. I’ll make sure we ACH from our BoA account instead.

Hoping for 8 steps any day now.

Was the wire transfer a stressful mess?

What's the California cashiers check protocol?

Did you get a shipping notification on the charger? Picking up my r1shop’d T tomorrow guide sucks, so no response on charger.

I can’t speak for California specifically, but I’ve been told no money exchanges hands in person. If you pay via cashiers check, I’d assume you have to mail it Rivian prior to delivery.

ACH is a fairly seamless process. Wires are a funds sent and they’re gone. If you mess up something the money can be gone. Our guide has told us Rivian has an easy ACH process setup, so that is the preferred payment method.

Can confirm - I mailed certified checks to Rivian and provided tracking #, needs to be at least 2 biz days before delivery so I’m told.
