And for all of those that thinking I'm just being a grouch about it - let's look at all of the stuff they have taken away since my order. Yes, I realize I can get some of these back, that's not the point because I can buy them 3rd party too. SOME you simply can't.

5 seater - GONE....
Max Pack - GONE.....
Floor Mats - GONE....
Cargo bars - GONE....
Field Kit - GONE...
Recovery Kit - GONE....

My Confidence in Rivian - GOING, GOING, GONE.....

Keep this up Rivian and

My order - GONE....
This must be the first time you have ever paid attention to any vehicle launch by any manufacturer. Plans change.

Well, the $1,00,000 question is exactly when will it be available to purchase?

Some of us are expecting our vehicles to be delivered in the next few weeks and they suddenly removed a crucial piece of safety gear at the last second?

Their promise of "s00n" is a joke at this point... If on my (60mi) drive home from the SC I get a blowout.. "s00n" isn't going to fill the void in the spare tire storage bay in the bed of the truck.

It's easy to say "it's not an issue" when your delivery is still a few months out.... but it is a big issue for those getting vehicles delivered before the spare tire is made available for purchase.
Won't your guide be able to make sure that you are taken care of? They are a human person that works at the company. I'd think that they would be able to find info for folks that are in purgatory.

If they're out of stock of accessories, folks with those in the configuration haven't been getting those at delivery already. So that's a separate problem. But if you're wondering how to order something that is not in the gear shop, but is in stock. I am sure Rivian would have a manual process to do so via a Guide as a stopgap.

Yeah, they'll have the spare tire in the gear shop. ...

I agree, the spare option should be part of the configuration because that seems to be an industry standard. But sounds like you can still order a spare separately, which is what I will do when my order comes up.
That is true but I would be concerned to use the truck for it's intended purpose until I could secure a spare. And I'm not convinced that even if they get the price back to original pricing for us pre-March folks. It may still take them months to fulfill it. So what do we do in the meantime. I wanted to sell our old F250 and use this to cover the towing and daily driver. (We are getting rid of two cars)

I wonder how they intend on dealing with GVWR stickers adding options later.
For user-installable options (cross bars, spare kit, RTT, etc.) I imagine that since the vehicle isn’t sold with the option(s) I don’t think they have any requirement to update the sticker. For example, if someone adds a few hundred pounds of winch and rock sliders I don’t think there’s any expectation that the sticker gets updated. Is there?

I seem to recall that the camp kitchen will require installation from a service center so they may have to update the sticker but do they show with camp kitchen on-board and without or just one?

I took that to mean they improved the regen and also are allowing us to use 'battery cushion' that existed at the top and bottom of the pack.
I'd be very curious to know if there are more gains to be had there, or if they've opened the pack as far as they'll ever be comfortable. I think I'd prefer they be cautious an affecting battery longevity if there are gains to be had in regen and elsewhere. Still pretty cool.

On the other topic I think the accessories adding up over $10k is part of the issue. The bank doesn't want to consider that part of collateral (since you could sell the accessories at your will).
Something I hadn't thought of, and makes sense. Still a shame. Seems that they could expand the range of gear that comes with the vehicle slightly -- Jeep lets you add a recovery kit and floor mats (and has a spare, obviously,) for example. But I get that they probably want simplicity at the moment.

understood. Rivian doesn't have the best track record of including accessories at delivery. Seems like they have been shipping them separately, either before or after delivery. Again, the spare tire is a weird case and I agree it should always come with the vehicle upon delivery, if ordered. But it's par for the course with Rivian....

If you’re on paved roads and can call roadside assistance it’s inconvenient, more inconvenient if you need to replace a tire and it takes time to get one and wildly inconvenient if this is your only vehicle.

The issue is worse for folks who want to go off-road or to locations where there is no cell service. If you get the same blowout in those circumstances you’re stranded somewhere until you can contact roadside assistance, which may take a while to get to you, if they can at all.

I do agree that dropping the spare is silly, something this type of vehicle should have by default. On the other hand if parts (jack kits, etc) would slow down deliveries then I think Rivian is doing the right thing. Even promising to deliver them later adds costs. That said I also don't understand the outrage.

If it means I get the R1S sooner I’m fine with it. I had the spare in my configuration and if it shows up in the gear shop I will probably still pick it up but not a show stopper for me.

I think the last time I used a spare was 1989. Have been driving a Tesla for 6.5 years with no spare. Have had my Jeep GC for over 9 years and never pulled the spare out of the compartment and will use the R1S like I use the Jeep. A flat will be inconvenient but based on my history, it is not a highly likely occurrence.
For those of us that use our vehicles off-road, unfortunately, it is not a rare occurrence.

Haven't read through most of this thread, but I'm anxiously awaiting the next update to see if my range increases. Since I drive it like I'm constantly stealing it, I doubt I'll get much of a bump but a few miles would be nice.

Take a minute and step back - how many vehicles in your life have had their range improve during your ownership? First time for me :D

Not to financially shame people or anything but if you can't shell out $2k cash for accessories maybe you shouldn't buy an 80k truck.
Just because it is an $80,000 truck doesn't make 2 grand any less valuable.

Yeah, I'd be fine if they included the spare tire and shipped the jack, pad, etc... later on. At least we could then bring our own jack, etc.. till the factory stuff arrives. But no tire- no nothing is bad news no matter which way you look at it.

I got this email as well. All-Weather floormats, field kit, and spare all removed.

Goes without saying that the configurator for every other manufacturer has dozens more options now, including basic items like a spare & floormats. How absolutely annoying. ?

No, 5 seat and max pack R1S are gone. The rest simply fall under "accessories sold separately."

Was wondering why all the trucks in my R1 Shop that hadn't come from the factory the a spare tire included said "your optional 20" spare tier will not transfer to this vehicle".. now I guess I know why.
