Just got the update, and it gave me free electrons

The update started with the battery at 64%, and upon completion, battery was at 68%. So not only did I get snow mode, but more charge as well which were delivered by the electron fairy.

I am going to finally go out to the truck to explore the new update and see where the fairies put the electrons while downloading the software. Maybe they left them in a magical pouch where my tonneau cover isn’t.

I was wondering the same thing! I’m more curious about the remaining range over the % battery life. It is interesting that the range increased on the visualizer on the Rivian website.

I just went out to check, and the battery estimate reset itself back to 64%. The mileage estimate had gone up, but has now also reverted to normal.

Yep, my R1T with 20" AT wheels/tires now shows 10 miles more at 100% than before. Not huge, but welcome.

(It's not at 100%, but doing the math for what it would say at 100% and it's 10 extra miles. Said 270 before, now it should say 280.)

Strange. Hopefully it increases your range some! I know I saw some battery upgrades as well. My R1T (4xxx) didn’t get the update yet. I’m in Florida so the snow mode part doesn’t matter much, but the other stuff I am looking forward too!

This is probably due to climate-related variances in the power consumption forecast for battery conditioning.

The power source that can fail and kill tens of thousands of neighbors and poison even more is not the one that should be unregulated. Great thing about batteries is they can store extra energy while the sun is clocked in for work and use it overnight. And the wind and geothermal can work the graveyard shift to lend a hand?

I agree with the nuclear comment but wind and solar are already cheaper than coal. So coal should be gone.

Nuclear is something people who know nothing about nuclear power generation point to, to sound smart. ...and I say this as someone who routinely works with nuclear power plants developing their emergency response planning.

Nuclear is going out of business organically because they can't profitably generate the power without major government subsidies. The age of the people working in the regulatory apparatus for these plants are mostly over 60; You can say "nuclear" until you're blue in the face, but it just isn't going to happen for the simple reason that the talent pipeline largely just doesn't exist anymore.
