50% to 100% more expensive than the Toyota and Ford equivalent product – seems … excessive.
Looking at it, I was expecting somewhere around $500-$1000. A decent bed cap is $3K. A rack with some hold-punch panels … for $3300 … c'mon …

Given the modular design, there's no justification in asserting the Rivian is a niche vehicle with very few owners going to buy this rack.
If you are getting specific units for ReTrax tonneau covers with T slot for "mainstream" vehicles so that you have as much customization as this unit you are looking $1,200 to 1,800. I do agree that anything over $2,200 is excessive for a low build unit as this.

Basically clamps into the factory receivers, then its thread, so the rack itself is bolted into their special clamp. Its a really smart design they went about it, hopefully he will post a YouTube video or something explaining exactly how he designed it and how it works so all can see!

But it feel very solid and secure! I am most likely getting the roof rack eventually so I will see if I can take a video of every step of mounting
Is it an easy removal process?

Glad you posted it here as well as Reddit!

You gotta powder coat those handles in Rivian yellow/gold; don’t know why he hasn’t done that for this product but I think it would add just the right level of extra.

Yours might wind up being my exact build, once I decide whether or not to go with a Max Pack or not, waiting to find out how others report the dual motors handle off-road before deciding if I’ll take a quad large like yours or a max pack.

Also, there’s a roof rack version too from the same manufacturer for anyone interested (I’m considering that if nothing else than for glass protection during off-roading from branches, etc.):
https://overlandruffrax.com/products/rivian-r1t-roof-rack-system

Yes the prices are higher than some other options but it’s a small operation & the owner does seem to throw himself into his work & designs.

Seems like it would be an awful shame to put just any standard bed rack onto the unique styling of Rivian’s design, but this rack seems to fit nicely, without sacrificing functionality too much for the sake of design.

One question, how do you think this rack would fare with solar panels vs. a rooftop tent? I feel like a dual-power setup with an extra batt for lights & heater would suit me well plus provide a few dozen miles of emerg. charge range in a pinch, does that seem feasible to you with this rack @Josh.Gonzales96?

Messaged the company about any plans to do yellow handles (no response yet). Agree it would look great with the Rivian

I really like this and would love to get one, especially if it does actually improve aero for RTTs. While I understand the economics at play, I just can't justify that price for a bed rack. If the price ever gets closer to 2k I think I'd be all-in. Hoping that many of these sell and prices are able to come down over time.

@Josh.Gonzales96, I'm curious, could you share the height from ground to top of your RTT in "Normal" and "Lowest" ride heights? I'm curious if this would fit in my carport with a tent on top... Might be an interesting option for those that want to fit a bigger tent like the full-size Skycamp.

Let me know if they do, I would really like yellow! I'm actually thinking about possibly switching to red just because it might look nice with the tail light bar

It is really good quality! I am actually going to pick up the roof rack in a few weeks, I want to get at least 1000 miles of testing with the bed rack before I throw any other variables in the mix. I will post an update with that as well.

I am sure if someone can make it work a solar panel with a charging system could work, I just feel like it would be best if you are camping somewhere multi day and not really moving at all, I think if you're just trying to capture energy while hitting trails it would be pretty minimal. But I am sure someone will figure out something eventually, this bed rack is very modular so I believe if and when someone figures out a solar option it should integrate pretty well

Its about right at 7 feet in the lowest setting, standard is a few inches taller than that.

If I you already have cargo crossbars from rivian and put them in the roof, does the bed rack align with the crossbars on top?

Bed rack aligns with roofline but not crossbars, they do sell risers though, I cannot confirm or deny if they match exactly with the crossbars, but I do believe it will get you close enough, then from there shimming should not be a problem.

Thanks.
Guess no easy way to do long lumber without buying more gear. Guess they would want you to buy their rooftop racks too...

Have you tried getting to the spare tire with the rack installed?

Any chance you mountain bike, and know whether or not you could still carry a bike on a tailgate pad with this installed?

That’s not going to happen. You could probably fit 400 watts of solar on the roof rack which is not enough to do anything meaningful for charging the truck. A battery pack large enough for a few dozen miles (18kwh) would also be massive overkill for any kind of camping power source.
