Rivian should focus on features that set them apart from the rest of the industry, not AA/CP.

CarPlay drove me crazy in my last vehicle. Wife and I both on modern iPhones, 2021 vehicle, Bluetooth cut out constantly, it would overheat if you used the wireless charger at the same time (and then cut out), wireless wasn’t reliable enough we had to use the plugged in CarPlay, we couldn’t airdrop while using CarPlay.
Yes I wish we had google maps if it had some kind of EV charging component, and some additional apps would be cool, but right now I am very happy to have Rivian’s system and not CarPlay.

I do like audiobooks sometimes on road trips and I plan to just use the audible app on my phone connected via BT.
Yeah, save your time and don't use alexa for audible. It has some annoying playck inconsistencies.
I will attempt to use tune-in as a podcast app, and if it is close to as good as pocketcasts, I will shut the f*** up about carplay, promise :) (except for the phone app, messaging, google maps, and waze, but alas....) I podcast so much, and although I really like spotify for music, I hate it for podcasts. Up until last friday I had no idea tune-in hosts podcasts so I need to give that a look.
Pocketcast is about the only android auto app I miss. The AA audible app was hot garbage for several months last time I tried to use it, so I ended up using Bluetooth for audiobooks despite having AA on other vehicles.
What? There are 24 others? Actually been super happy with tidal and no Spotify withdrawals.
I prefer Tidal actually. The only reason i have had spotify in the past was third party integration. Ill probably stickth Tidal for now.

Oh and while they’re listening: a navigation system that’s adaptive, apple music, texting integration (read out), calendaring, call management, a waze app.

Please start with any one of these :p
You’re asking for any 1 when screen projection can give you all 6 of these. If we push for Rivian to implement all 6 of those you mentioned as native apps, it is likely to be years until you see all of them and that doesn’t help the person who wants, say, Pandora, ABRP, Gaia GPS, Teams call handling, onX, PlugShare, Zoom call handling, etc.

If they implement screen projection to quickly allow ALL apps people are clamoring for, then they can backfill the ones with highest demand as native apps.

Implementing screen projection also means that when the next must-have in-car app appears on billions of phones it is available on the built-in screens in our Rivians. We don’’t have to wait months or years for Rivian to build a native app to give us the functionality, assuming they ever do.

what issues do you have? I use mine daily and it works great for me. assuming it's the last thing I listened to, I just hit the play/pause button on the steering wheel and it picks right back up. also no issues with syncing with other devices.

Sometimes my play/pause doesn't work for other audio sources, but "Alexa, resume" always works if there is still something "active" but not playing. I don't do podcasts or audiobooks at all.

It was a humorous attempt to callout the hubris that Rivian continues to demonstrate here. This much customer demand isn’t wrong. Even if it were, Rivian needs to use their excellent communications to explain why their customers aren’t right.

It seems to get stuck on play/pause for me. I haven't figured out how to speed of the playback speed like I do on the app, and if I recall correctly it doesn't have skip/rewind 30 second buttons so I have to tell Alexa to do it verbally which just annoys me because it's less efficient.

Yeah, I have had issues with play/pause button. I didn't think to do an "alexa resume" command for some reason.

Its rare that the voice command doesn't work. Typically she'll ask what I want to play if there really wasn't something active. I think when it still doesn't work that there's likely a network interruption or limited data.

Some times Alexa asks what I want to play as soon as a door is opened. Anyone else experience that? I think it's because I use Amazon music and it's not really a fully supported source.

yeah, I didn't think about the playback speed aspect. of note, just hit the next/prev buttons and that does 30 sec each way for me

D’oh! Sorry. I’ve seen so many sincere, “If Rivian just added these x apps I’ll be happy.” posts that without an emoji it went flying right over my head.

They don't have to at all. The mistake you're making is assuming you have a right to be satisfied or given an explanation why you weren't, which you absolutely don't. If you were told it would have CP/AA, and doesn't yet, then you'd have a basis for that. They have been clear and unwavering in saying that what you see is what you get. They hope you like it too, but are perfectly ok if you don't.

If you walk into a sushi restaurant, order a rainbow roll and then demand to know why they don't serve a Golden Corral style buffet, because it has endless options which is good for everyone, you'd look like a fool. This is no different. If you want a buffet, go to Golden Corral. But Rivian is serving sushi until further notice, and there's a 1-2 year long wait for a table.

Ok fine, don’t give us CP/AA. Since there’s a better way, give us a roadmap and timeline of features that will best CP/AA. I wanna believe in it. Pick any one item on your roadmap and get started. Come on man. Show us the vision.

Positive spin:

I absolutely love my vehicle otherwise. So that’s not gonna happen. I’m just not infotained with the underwhelming current state. Everything is fixable. Either trajectory or velocity needs to change.
