I think the minimum is 20. Still can set acc or driver+ while driving slower
Ya the drive quality of acc in traffic sucks. Constant over acceleration and sudden braking

Not in Seattle traffic. It horrendous.
Odd, I found when I tried it in the city it was the only time the adaptive cruise control did much for me. Maybe the relatively slower speeds helped allay some of the suspicions I had around its safety or whatever.

Honestly that’s been every ACC experience I’ve ever had. Mercedes, Porsche, Ford, Tesla, Jeep, and more. They all rush up on the vehicle in front then brake too hard. And the they all let too much gap when the vehicle in front is accelerating.

The mandatory regen is pretty big annoyance to me - I’d take the range consequences if I were allowed to have a no regen option, yeah.

Playing with the following distance helps…ramp up ramp down depending on traffic flow

What speed do you set it at in crawling city traffic
You can set it at 60 but when cars in front do 3 then you just pace behind them. When going 3-5 mph ACC is great and if you want driver+ then it is not a big deal if it fails. You are doing 3-5. Corrections are easy. Seriously I think I am in the minority here and I love ACC. Many manufacturers don’t let you go below 20mph with ACC. So this is a win.

I think people look at ACC for 20-30 MPH then stop. Much of Portland is VERY slow. I5 is seriously 3-5MPH max. You don’t get the acceleration and braking action as with higher traffic speeds

Oh give me a break…nobody knows anything about traffic until you drive 90 miles a day in LA. ?
Hey, I agree LA is horrible but mainly because LA is enormous. I lived in socal for 3 years. Portland to Washington border is a 3 lane freeway that goes 3-5 MPH for 3 miles. Much much smaller than LA but usually much slower and no other routes. Only 2 freeway bridges to connect 500k people.

LOL, yeah I was just joking…I know some places have a super-concentrated traffic situation. Yeah, LA is just massive and can trap you in so many ways. I commute through downtown each way right now and it’s just gnarly…there’s so many opportunities for something to bring everything to a dead stop. In 46 mile commute, it’s only the last few miles that it feels like ok, made it again.

I was in this exact situation recently with it set at 70. Traffic slowed due to an accident and it was 3-5, but as space opened and the truck accelerated it lunges forward as if trying to immediately get to 60 and then aggressively braking to a stop. It’s not smooth at all fir me. I like acc at highway speeds quite a bit tho!

I LOVE my R1S and to be honest one pedal driving makes driving in traffic SO much easier and pleasant. I like not having to go back and forth from accelerator and brake every second. I feel like it gives me the same type of control and feel I get from engine braking my motorcycles. I took some getting used to, but now I LOVE it! If you want a fully electric car that has the option to drive like a gas car OR a EV, I highly recommend the Mercedes EQS 450+ all electric Sedan or SUV. It has a no regen setting, a mild and a heavy mode. It also has a "creeping" setting so that the vehicle rolls similar to a gas car and it can be activated in ALL Modes if you like the gas rolling feeling. We ended up getting the EQS SUV for my wife, and I really enjoy driving it BUT personally, I still prefer my R1S!!

Interesting idea but daily downtown stop-and-go traffic makes it challenging.

Maybe the solution id to move to wide open spaces and get out of the urban dystopia.
Not sure how you can afford to not be pressing the brakes in a stop and go traffic.
ACC is wonderful in those situations.

I've noticed (and I can't tell if it's just in my head or real) that if you have regen set to 'high' it takes more force to keep the pedal at a certain acceleration. I usually don't use it like that unless I'm in heavy traffic, but has anyone else felt the same thing?

Does anyone else miss the occasional need to take your foot off the accelerator without going into a braking nose dive?

I get the need to regenerate but having to constantly feather the pedal to adjust for traffic (without driver+) leaves me occasionally missing that feeling of coasting.

Would be nice to have a lite/no option for regen.
Here is the fix - set adaptive cruise control. If you re in town just set it at 35. The only thing you need to do is take it off at a stop sign or red light with no car in front of you. Just drove 6 miles in Long Island side road peak traffic this way and loved it.
