We've had our R1T for about a week and this morning I managed to crack the glass on the pano roof by attempting to pass a water bottle over the driver's seat. The plastic lid of the bottle grazed the roof and caused a crack. Is the roof really this fragile that something can break it with almost no force? Has anyone else cracked the glass from the inside like this? And more importantly, how hard is it to get this fixed by Rivian?

There were quite a few early deliveries that had mystery cracks in the roof glass, but it had been awhile since we heard about more issues. If you watch the Netflix documentary "American Factory" you'll understand why. The same company makes all of Rivian's glass.

Fuyao/ AGP(?)!!!

I don't think Fuyao makes the Pano roof. I saw a post somewhere where someone mentioned they saw AGP markings in one of the corners.

Ah ok. Thank you for the correction. I will edit my snarky comment to include AGP in makers of fragile glass.

My roof developed a crack on the interior pane and I have no clue how it happened. I assumed it was manufacturer related since I never actually hit it, but the service center said that since there was an identified "impact point" it was not covered under warranty. Cost was about $1,600 to replace and I submitted a claim via insurance and since I live in a 100% glass coverage state I had no deductible.

that's the nature of automotive glass … built for profit and replacement, also designed for load in one direction only …

Is the pano glass? Someone here a few weeks ago was swearing it's some sort of plexiglass-glass or plastic?

My name is Mike, and I have a (car) problem
VIN is 12xxx, and I’ve dropped my crossbars (with the SUP mount on them) on the pano glass once while installing them, and managed not to crack anything.

It was a pucker-factor-11 moment, and I don’t plan on testing my luck like that again.

Anyone notice a projectile hit on their Rvian glass and NOT get a crack? I need some anecdotal evidence to over-rely on.

Any chance you have a diamond ring and hit it on the glass while passing the bottle?

Maybe you hit it on the edge of the bottle or like someone else said with a diamond ring or something. I never hit my glass and I'm not going to go smack it now to test but that just seems off to me.
