To start with the mounts which ORR is just a resale from @DCE. He charged me $200 for each set of mounts. This seemed like gouging but I liked the option and needed them so I agreed. The main issue I have is that despite paying $400 Sam at ORR only sent me two extra mounts.
I'm curious which mounts you're referring to. I don't see anything on Weistec/DCE's website that looks related to ORR's offering.

They don’t have them listed on either of their websites. These are the mounts I am referring to. Both the bed and roof racks from ORR use these.

Edit: I would not recommend Overland Ruff Rax to anyone. The guy Sam that runs it appears to be a complete bum and flake. I purchased the roof rack and 2 sets of extra mounts. Problem one occurred when my package arrived and only 1 set of extra mounts was included ($400). I called him and he said it was his mistake and he would make it right, now 3 weeks later he has not and he is not taking my calls or responding to messages. Second issue was the rack itself, one of the pieces was too long such that I had to cut some extrusion of each end on my own to make it fit. Next there was not enough T-Nuts to finish the assembly. Not a great experience at all....
Sorry JJ, hope they make it right.

It's one thing to pay a premium for first mover third-party Rivian items, which I regularly do. However, it's unacceptable for sellers not to properly support the products after purchase at any price, let alone a super-premium. Unfortunately, we're going to experience both good and bad outcomes.

What's the distance between bolt hole centers on these? I'm debating just making something to eliminate the Rivian attachment pieces because mine are getting a lot of wear from dirt getting down in there over the bed, don't seem as tight as last year even after adjusting them.

If those are aluminum and stainless hardware, I hope you are coating the bolts in something.

It limits your choices a bit, but there is something to be said for buying from site sponsors if they offer a product you can live with. At least they are here participating and listening to the feedback everyone gives. They aren't perfect either, but IMHO they are less likely to pull something like this.

The ghosting after screwing up the order so badly is the worst part.

Boo for ORR!

I measured 2 1/2”. A little hard to make out in the photo.

The parts are anodized billet aluminum. I guess the screws are stainless. Not worried about the ones I may use on the bed because they’ll be interior or likely under some gasket. The roof may be more susceptible especially if when snow fills in there.

Very true. I love the power of our community to point out good experiences and bad. I know there is a thread on here with a satisfied ORR experience.

I was getting frustrated with this retailer before hand and debated whether I should buy at all, I should have trusted my instincts.

I don’t really see the problem here other than missing hardware that you mention he assured you he would get back to you with?

Also he’s a one person company, so I would give him some slack when it comes to missing components. If he assured you that it would be sent out then just be patient.

the website says 4-6 weeks for compents and even if the mountsare from DCE, I ordered some parts from DCE and it’s also going to take me about 4-6 week form weistec. Manufacturing takes time. No reason to bash a company for a minor mistake that he promised to make right.
I know for sure you had patience with rivian and getting your delivery in a timely manner, I’m sure you can have that same patience when it comes to the little companies.

Dude you don't know what you're talking about. I know you got special treatment and got a roof rack in 48 hours or whatever, glad that he treats his friends so well.

The truth is he has made promise after promise and hasn't follow through on half of them, then when I talk to him he acts like he doesn't know what I am talking about, that is why I am 'bashing' him. I got sick of hearing excuses and when he stopped taking my calls and didn't bother responding to messages that was the last straw.

For the record I ordered my rack December 8th so don't tell me 4-6 weeks that is BS. Bottom line I hold businesses big and small accountable for what they say, my criticism is 100% fair.

So busy that they are ducking calls and emails repeatedly?

For the record I would be bitching about how they installed your roof rack.

First off the gap in the front is wrong, they cut some of your parts too wide:

Rivian R1T R1S Overland RuffRax - Roof Rack & Bed Rack 1677105455008

Secondly the way the mounted it the rack sits at least 1/4" higher than it should, if fact if they had engineered their parts better it could sit even more flush to the roof.

I mean king of hammers just happened and it was two weeks long. I know there’s no phone service there and both ORR and weistec was there, I don’t think any manufacturing happens in the desert

Lol I waited the 4-6 weeks like everyone and didn’t meet Sam until I picked up my rack.

and like I said previously. King of the hammers just happened which is a two week event.I know for a fact both ORR and Weistec were both out there during that time. There is zero phone service out there and also no manufacturing is happening If all the employees are out there.

it’s ok to be upset, but I don’t get why you’re still keeping it going when the problem is currently being resolved like you asked?

Surprise I installed it myself not him.

and gaps are very important or when your roof flexes you’re going to have rubbing.
But whatever you need to cry about I guess

First off I don't know how that is possible because it directly conflicts with what you said, you had stated you didn't decide to buy the roof rack until you were super happy with the bed rack but your posts are only 16 days apart... so math..

Secondly if Sam was going to be at KOH for 2 weeks not sure why he promised (on Feb 2nd) to send the parts out first thing the week of the 13th when he was back and then ignored my email on the 15th and then my phone call and SMS earlier this week. He didn't follow up until he seen me criticizing him here. If he'd have told me on the 13th or the 20th that there was a delay and given me a new ETA I wouldn't have said anything.

Lastly I actually I had settled and softened my criticism after he promised today that he would send me the parts at the end of the week. You were the one that had to come in and defend him (I assume at his direction) and keep this thread alive like my criticism wasn't valid, I guess you were on the line when he was making promises that he couldn't keep.
