I’m constantly surprized at the number of people who rely so heavily on Nav that their life experience is destroyed by its weaknesses. The sun rises in the east, sets in the west. Roads have street signs.
Sounds complicated

Uh - I’m glad you like your model X ¯\_(ツ)_/¯. Teslas nav sucked too and has steadily gotten better, as will Rivian’s. They added google search to the nav in the last release -
That's true, but it somewhat hard to understand why Rivian was further along with some of the software when they launched. They didn't need a finished vehicle to build the software. Perhaps they didn't have the budget to hire before the IPO.

Tesla had to figure a lot more stuff than Rivian. Rivian has the huge advantage of looking at best of class and designing similar applications.

However software quality in particular relys on having a few of the right people rather than the largest budget. VW failed at a huge software effort in recent years. Ford's infotainment sucked for years.

One advantage of a max pack preorder is the potential for less annoyance of a new comapny's software. Anyone coming from Tesla needs some tolerance in this area. Buy another Tesla if software quality is of primary importance.

I am very surprized at the number of people that have not been outraged by the feeble nav. system in the Rivian. Mine has been delayed AGAIN, but my buddy's cam and we have been seeing how poorly Alexa is. My Tesla nav system can find ANYTHING. If I as for a restaurant, it shows me ALL of the locations of that restaurant. If I need to find a Drs. Office I tell it to navigate to that Drs. office and Tesla gives me the option to call him! Some young kid said "just enter the address by hand". Dude, I dont KNOW the address. I dont care what any of you Tesla X haters say, mine if fabulous, and the Nav system is a HUGE part of my driving experience. Rivian might be able to handle boulders, but my boulders are getting to where Im going every day.
Stale news. Bye.

It’s actually faster and easier to look up the location on your phone in Google Maps and then just hit “share” with Rivian. I greatly prefer that versus typing it into a vehicle screen.

That works much more reliably than the wireless CarPlay in either of my previous vehicles, although it would be nice to be able to use the actual Google or Apple Maps since real-time traffic seems to be more accurate in those apps. On the other hand, the traffic is gonna be there regardless, so it doesn’t really matter in real world use.

Man, I'm going to go onto the Tesla forums and start complaining about all the things I don't like about teslas. Seems like a good use of my time.
If I set foot in the church of Elon I’m afraid lightning might strike me down for blasphemy.

Probably the easiest "Ignore" I've seen here yet. Later, Tater.

Lots of frustration covered here. Not just search. Alexa non responses. Sporadic, very slow routing. Poor routes. Flat out errors. Being told to cross roads with concrete dividers. Poor charger integration w mapping. A big reason why we miss CarPlay, not so much wishing for Tesla mapping. It's improving, but not nearly as helpful and reliable as google or Apple Maps or ABRP.

Elon Musk isn't going to like you at all if you don't type. How did you manage to post to this forum?
