I recently picked my R1T up from the service center. While there, the windshield was replaced. Now the auto wipers do not work. I have tried a vehicle reset as recommended by the service center, but to no avail.
obviously, it’s not critical, since I can still turn the wipers on manually. But I would like the feature to work without wasting another entire day going back to the service center.
any suggestions? Has anyone else dealt with this?

Lol, sorry to laugh but I had same issue after windshield replacement.

I removed the cover under the mirror and checked connections. One was not fully inserted. After that, still not working. Service center has to replace the sensor.

I had my windshield replaced recently. I hopped in the car and the first thing I tested was the wipers (see last paragraph). The auto wipers were not working. The tech came back out and ran a diagnostic and found that he did not reset a sensor or setting after having replaced the windshield. He did that, and then everything worked perfectly. Less than 5 min.

Edit: Maybe they could do this remotely for you by calling up your truck?

I had a windshield replaced at the Audi Dealer once and on the way home I needed to use the wipers. The wiper arms were never put back on their posts. They were simply laying in their recess with their bolts. I had to put them on their posts and tighten them once a got home - 120 mile journey. Posts were working perfectly! :p

Glad I'm not the only one with this issue. Was hesitant to open service case thinking it was operator error. Mine flips back from auto to disabled within 3 seconds after I set it. Is that the issue you have as well? I already have a service appt schedule for other issues but it's 4 weeks away and with daily rain lately, it's a pain to constantly toggle and adjust the wipers.

Also, another issue is on the highest setting mode the vigorous wiper movement shakes the gas pedal and it's noticeable enough to be very irritating because it's pulsing every second. Is this normal?

Yes, it was partially resolved after my service visit. The rain sensor was mis-aligned, and after they fixed, works much better now. However, it's not good enough to be fully automatic. These are issues I still have:
- Have to leave it 'off' so that it doesn't randomly wipe when there's no rain.
- For very light drizzle/rain, in stop & go traffic, the sensor doesn't activate until visibilty is completely obscured by the rain, so I have to manually push stalk to perform a wipe, then set it back to auto. Need to keep doing this until rain picks up or stops. I will get this checked out again on the next visit in Jun.

Where exactly is the sensor? Mine started to behave the same way recently and I'd love to visually inspect it prior to setting up a service call.

Thank you in advance.

Same thing just happened to me. Rivian replaced my windshield (bc they damaged it during the prior service) and now the auto wipers don’t work. Every time my R1S goes in for an issue, it leaves service with a new issue. 3rd time in a row! Their solution is wait another 5 weeks for a mobile service. That’s almost 5 months after they damaged the windshield repairing a rattle!

"Same issue" would be if your rain sensor wasn't working after windshield replacement. Do you really have the same issue? Then it's the same solution.

They don't work on our new 2026 R1S. Going in fro service tomorrow. But I can clearly see that the sensor became detached from the windshield so it should be an easy fix.

This has been reported by others in the past. It's considered "normal". Maybe not "acceptable" but "normal". I think some of us are more, or less, tuned into this type of vibration. If it happens in my R1S, I've never noticed it.

Very well. It is “similar”. I was asking McMoo who had asked Tony and it seemed similar enough to ask. 🤷🏻‍♂️

As an update, I just got back from a service center appointment in Glen Burnie, MD. I am disappointed but I can see where Rivian would say what they did.
Apparently because I have a radar detector power cord running past the rear view mirror cover on the window that it is my fault the auto wipers don’t function. They state that since I removed the cover (which I didn’t) I broke a tab or seal on the sensor to the window and it’s not under warranty.
I had specifically NOT removed the cover due to things I had read on here and the cord runs BY the cover and NOT under it. I mentioned this to the advisor and he just looked at me like I had a 3rd eyeball. Rivian insisted that I removed it. I can’t prove I didn’t so they win.
$2200 for a new windshield and none are in stock. I’ll live without auto wipers since they still function. I’m not paying that for something I didn’t cause.
Like I said, I can understand why they would think that but I still don’t approve.

He's just reading the tech's findings. Not what he found personally. That is why he looked at you like you had a 3rd eye. He's just an intermediary passing info. Nothing he can do with the information you're giving him. The tech reported what they found and tech are somewhat insulated from dealing with customers directly. Rivian is also very conservative [overall] with their legal stance on anything that isn't factory stock—to avoid having to settle class action suits that cost them hundreds of millions at a time. Like every business, some are more risk-adverse than others.
