Remember, Mr. Sandy “cheapen” Munro was put on retainer a while back. In addition to “shilling” for Rivian, he is spending a lot of time in Normal, if you believe the reports. It used to be good marketing to integrate a 3P audio system: Bose, Harman, Alpine, etc. It’s thought this helps drive interest and validates the platform as being well designed.
Moving this and other things to in-house is a risky cost cutting move. So far that’s gone really well (sarcasm). Look no further than navigation, text integration, audio apps. Let’s not even get started on CP/AA.
The only positive I see here is cost cutting. Zero customer benefit. Same with the 12v outlets. Reducing customer benefit.
The product is slowly eroding
Might have been the lower-cost system they were planning for Explore.Strange. Based on when this was trademarked, it would seem this was something they planned on doing for a while.
How were you able to tell? Did they just remove the Meridian branding?I got the new system, unbeknownst to me, on an R1S delivery this weekend. It sounds very good. I would not sweat it if you're worried about it.
Mids and highs are very crisp. The sub could be a little punchier, but that's mostly personal taste. You can notch up the low frequencies in the EQ to compensate.
Was your R1S a Launch Edition? Curious if this is being done to all vehicles or just Adventure trim. I was definitely disappointed to read this news given that I've got a 2018 pre-order and they've been promoting the Meridian system for a long time. To have them remove it before they even finish fulfilling the 2018 orders is frustrating. Especially as mine is on a train and likely was built in Feb 2023. But I'm glad to hear that the new system still sounds good.I got the new system, unbeknownst to me, on an R1S delivery this weekend. It sounds very good. I was referring to the in house part, but feel free to always be a negative Nancy since that's what we've all come to expect out of you.100% verified by many, many owners who all have skin ?

Do you know approximately when your S rolled off the assembly line?I got the new system, unbeknownst to me, on an R1S delivery this weekend. It sounds very good. I would not sweat it if you're worried about it.

Yes, it's a March 2023 build. Most of the speakers have no branding at all. But the woofers and the doors do have a rivian logo. See attached.Do you know approximately when your S rolled off the assembly line?
I kind of like the look of this more but still sad no speaker should be advertising benefits from being lighter and using less magnet that's not how it works. Also now its more parts they have to have and what happens if our speakers do go out.Yes, it's a March 2023 build. Most of the speakers have no branding at all.
