I'm interested in replacing the stock AT tires with something more aggressive. I'm only driving in the city so the range is not a major concern, but I do want to avoid rubbing. The stock AT tire is 275/65/20. I assumed I could replace it with any 275/65/20 tire but I'm noticing major differences in width from different brands. I'm taking delivery next week so I can't check how much clearance the stock tires have at full turn. I plan to keep the stock 20" wheels. Does anyone have a guess if I'm going to run into problems with the wider tires listed in this chart? The Nitto Ridge Grappler is my favorite. The tire dealer told me the tires are mine once mounted.

Um, ok. Need those aggro tires on your mall crawler? lol.

But if you are serious I am running 275/65/20 Cooper Discoverer ATP 2s. They are a bit more aggressive looking IMO, but also seem to perform well on pavement (quiet, good handling, etc).

I've only ever had them rub ONCE making a compression turn up onto a curb, and that was on LOWEST setting. And the rub was so minor it was barely noticeable. Pretty sure I wouldn't have rubbed on LOW or above. I really don't think you have much to worry about.

I can’t comment on whether they might rub on your Rivian but I run the Toyo Open Country AT3s on my Tacoma and I would recommend them to anyone. Very good on and off road and in all weather conditions.

I believe the “width” dimension you have listed In your chart is misleading. With regard to the OEM Pirellis, you’ve listed “tread” width whereas with respect to all other options, the value(s) represent “section” width. The section width of the OEM Pirelli is comparable to the others in this list. TLDR: nothing to worry about—get the tire you desire! Good luck.

I'd go with the recons over the ridges for weight difference alone. I've ran both and honestly couldn't tell much of a difference. Recons were slightly quieter.

I have 6,500 miles on my Cooper AT3 XLT Discoverer tires. They are load range E and I have run them at 60psi cold (63-65psi hot) and they have worn perfect, ride great and look fantastic. At 60psi range loss is negligible and they are as quiet as the Scorpions.

Ran Toyo Open Country on my Tundra for 130,000 out of the 160,000 miles, but the Coopers are proven for me and I hope to get 35,000 miles out of them.

oh dang, I've been running at 48ish PSI (just because the OEM tires are spec'd that way)...but you'd recommend bumping that up a bit to improve mileage?

The operational range of the tire is up to 80PSI. It's a Load Range E tire. I run 60psi cold, as mentioned and if range is a concern, I'd absolutely bump up to a minimum of 55 cold. I did a test run on my 55 mile highway course and 65psi is ideal, but a slightly more harsh ride, so I dropped it down to 60psi, which is what I would recommend anyone running these Coopers to do. 6,500 miles, perfect wear pattern so far.

Sweet, yah, saw the load range initially and thought about it for a second...good thing I saw your post with only about 500 miles on the tires :)

What pressure would you recommend for off roading? For example, on a dirt road vs a rocky trail...

The OEM wheels on these tires should support mid 20's sand. 28-30 on a dirt road without any real obstacles. Rocky trail Jeep guys run low 20's, but to me that is risky on the OEM wheel....

I'd say BFG K02. The perfect all-rounder.
For something more aggressive off-road, excellent in sand and excellent for on-road noise and comfort, Patagonia MT-02 or for better all-round Patagonia XT.
The MT is quite amazing and still quiet on-road (noise means inefficiency, rolling resistance and loss of range.)

Hes right and here's the further scoop. LT tires are inflated to a psi to match the load capacity. So the door card psi is USUALLY irrelevant when you go from euro metric (oem) to LT. But it just so happens that 46-8 is the correct psi to match the trucks load capacity. I have a post on it somewhere here with more details and will try to find. The beauty if LT tires is you can inflate them up for range improvements IF YOU WISH. Ride quality and performance may suck bit it's an option. I run my lt tires at 48 for everyday use and air them up to 60 for road trips in good weather conditions.

I've run so many tires here in the mountains and red rocks of Utah as well as Louisiana mud, and the BFG KO2 are my favorite all-around tires. Based on your needs, I'm guessing you won't see a huge difference between the tires listed, so buy which ones you think look the best.

1: your ridge grapplers have a lower speed rating than the pirellis or others. Keep an eye out.

2: as others have mentioned, there’s a big segment for these tires - also stuff from BFG, General, Firestone, Bridgestone, etc. I’m planning to swap the pirellis for the Dueler A/T Revo 3 in this size, but I have other reasons for staying brand loyal.
