Steering Wheel Shake at Highway Speeds

That is exactly what I'm hoping for. Seems something wears in and resolves itself. So weird.

The tires probably have some sort of high spots that wear down once driven sufficiently.

Mine actually went away over time. Which I don't fully understand. But it is completely gone and it was kinda bad when new.

I’ve also had this issue on my new R1T, just over 1000 miles. Only is noticeable above 80 mph (not that I EVER drive it that fast hahah). The service center told me that if it goes away when you put your hands on the steering wheel its normal, if it doesn’t then we need to look into it. I would prefer it just goes away entirely. Had a full alignment done at the service center that didn’t fix it. I have the 22s.

I have a hard time understanding why so many tires would have "high" spots that need to wear down? I have had many cars and many tires and have never heard of this. I wonder if the issue may be with the wheels? Maybe that would explain the lack of spare availability?

Funny, i just had my first tire rotation - after one year and 17k miles. Steering wheel vibrates above 80MPH. If i go to 78, it stops. Above 90, less noticeable, but sample size a lot lower. Hoping it stops soon. It’s annoying.

Mine goes in next week for this issue, along with alignment and the dreaded "tock" sound. They tried to fix it but weren't able to and still shakes above 80 mph.

Anyone here got their wobble fixed? I have been bugging service and they finally fixed it, sort of. They installed a heavier steering wheel, the wobble is 90% gone, 5% still shake but goes away if my hand is on the steering wheel, 5% my hand will shake with it too.

I picked up yesterday and I have the "80mph shake". If I slow down it seems to go away. Definitely a weird one for me and it's going to the SC on Wednesday.

Dropped my R1T at the SC due to highway shake and camera issues (1 week post delivery). The SC checked all the tires and ended up replacing 2 of them due to poor balance on their machine. They were bad enough to just replace rather than attempt to fix. As others have posted, tires seem to be a continual issue. Will see next week whether this helps with the shake.

Rivian is launching a technical service bulletin for some model year 2022 and 2023 R1T and R1S vehicles. In some situations, the driver may notice a slight vibration or oscillation of the steering wheel at 70 mph or above, causing a perceived quality issue. Steering function is not affected. Upon customer complaint of a vibrating steering wheel, Rivian will replace the steering wheel with a version that is less prone to vibration.

They replaced the steering wheel which has had some affect, but it's still there. I need to go through and make sure that they performed a balance as well.

This is already in effect? Sweet! The shake drives me crazy and I’ve had it in for service a couple times and was told I’d have to wait for a fix. I will have to contact service asap and see if they can take care of it.

Sure, that I know. I'm wondering if others have seen it and diagnosed it so that I know which one and how urgent it is to correct.
