Is this shill day over on the Rivian forums? I see all the short sellers and hedge fund douche bros are trolling the forum today trying to lower the stock price. Go away guy. Nothing in this article is news.
People trying to be relevant with first qtr earnings call tomorrow. ??

There's literally zero point to posting a paywalled article.
Every time I hop in my beautiful Rivian R1T and clean my windshield with the wipers, I imagine the drops of the wiper fluid are the tears of all the financial bros who complain about Rivian's share price.
Is that a methanol-induced fugue state?

More click bait crap. Would love get the list of things the pre-order had that the current vehicle doesn't that would make someone balk at buying. My R1S has what was offered from the jump and I am ecstatic about it. What is funny is I just got back from a drive and was thinking how much I love my R1S and how great this vehicle has been.

Well, the success/failure of the company won't be based on it's R1 product or your opinion of it. While it's unknown given the history of the automotive manufacturing world, I truly believe the ramp up of R2 is what will make or break them.

OP has a legitimate question for those on the fence. I'm in the same straddle position. The options and vehicle has changed so much. I'm sure the fanbois will be irritated because they won't accept anything negative but in the end to each his own on what to do with their hard earned cash. I even have a service center just a few miles up the street. But I'm not going to put up with some of the issues I've seen some owners post. And it sounds like a crap shoot if you have a windy noise window, bad alignment, steering and suspension issues. The plus side is that my early slot will mean someone moves up the chain if I pull out so don't hate on me as well. I prefer to hear the good and bad, CNN and FOX and make my own decision. My rant is that a lot of forums turn into cheer leading with "Don't you dare throw shade on my car/company". I say let the chips fall where they may, believe your eyes not the dogma of the cult. Best of luck to the company. Ignore if you like and say good riddance. I'll probably be gone soon anyways. I don't know. Sorry to be dark.

I don’t think this forum is a fanboy Club. As you noticed , there are a lot of complaints about Rivian‘s various imperfections. Don’t believe me, start a thread about CarPlay. Buying a new cutting edge vehicle bears some inherent risk. You are free to rant as much as you want, or not, but this is a great forum where you can learn a ton and have fun hanging out here.

Ford won’t sell more this year if they continue to have problems like this. This should illustrate that if Ford is still having supply constraints, we can expect that Rivian is at risk too.
Ford and GM both sold more EVs in Q1 than Rivian did, so I don’t see evidence that established automakers are not moving to EVs. I agree that Ford should have a better supply chain than Rivian.

I think it's a legitimate to be worried about quality, but feature erosion making you think twice? I don't get that. In all my years of purchasing vehicles, I'm certain it has never come down to 12V outlets, wood vs. plastic surrounding the dryclean hooks, one vs. two horns or CarPlay vs. OE infotainment. Never. The price increase isn't ideal, but I think those that were able to take advantage of the lower pricing made out really well, this thing is underpriced in my opinion. For me, I'm looking for something special, which the R1T just is. The driving dynamics are first rate, the interior is gorgeous, and the utility is an amazing balance. I can't believe I have a truck (I just unloaded a bunch of old quarter panels from some of my car projects at the steel recycling center) that can out accelerate and out comfort just about anything. It's unreal.

Toyota is far more into plugins and hydrogen, but even that have invested four billion in a U.S. battery plant. Their BEV run rate is 20K, which is comparable to Rivian in 2022. They plan to scale it up to a million per year; they have a better chance of that than Rivian, frankly.
Wow a massive car company with a world wide presence has a better chance of making EVs than a startup. You must be a Wall St wunderkind with those kind of prophetic predictions.

Hybrid Touareg
Over the last two decades I have owned two vehicles belonging to bankrupt companies. I have a pretty bad track record. Saab, which eventually stopped production entirely. Then VW (pseudo bankrupt) Touareg Hybrid (only about 250 of these vehicles in the U.S.). Both, I’ve kept driving. Both are still serviceable (although painful). Both are essentially worthless now. The VW has a $1600 insurance premium. So some concern could undeniably be valid. But Rivian will be fine. Like someone else mentioned, in the worst unlikely case scenario, somebody would absorb the company.

There was a tech company that in 1996 the analysts and experts widely said was doomed to imminent bankruptcy. An angel stepped in with a $150m loan, and that company re-engineered and rebuilt itself, and is doing just fine today.

Who was the company and who was the angel? The company was Apple, and the angel was Bill Gates.

Never underestimate the ability for analysts to be full of doom and gloom and void of vision.

Not so sure, Toyota has been flip flopping on EVs for years. Migrating from ICE to EV is not easy. If in distress, Rivian and it’s platform could easily become a takeover target for an ICE. I don’t think it will happen, but if they did go bankrupt a buyout would be pretty likely.

100% behind company, but 11 months into ownership waiting on the kitchen I ordered, the sliders that are coming s00n, and a tonneau cover that I pray doesn't break the next time I open or god forbid, close.

Yep they got issues. Big issues and this forum is for fanbois.

Me, half full hoping they deliver on everything and someday they're back at the market cap of IPO days and deservedly so.
