Not sure if there were any posts discussed this.

I took my R1S for service today and here is what I found (driver side power windows switch does not work, etc):
- since it is all booked up, It took almost one month to get service in Costa mesa.
- it takes at least one week to diagnose and fix all issues.
- they require all issues be logged at service request at lease 5 days before service day. (they used to allow driver to add more issues to ticket during servicing which made service take longer)

Staff said lately there have been many new deliveries, making service team very busy.
Do you guys have the same experience lately?

I think they really need to open more service centers fast in SoCal area. Such long wait harm the experience.

Getting service in only one month and getting the truck back in only one week would be amazing. My experience is much worse than that.

I hope rivian can improve this soon.
Faster service, shorter service, mobile service will be nice.

Last time I booked service in costa mesa it took more than a month, so they are less backed up then they used to be. Good news!

I have gotten my R1S back and a staff told me they are thinking to add another SC in inland empire (beginning 2024). Good news if it is true.

Please, Please Please! That would be good. I used to go to Costa Mesa Tesla Service center when there weren't any other options in OC or IE and it was a complete shit show there! Long waits and they would damage my Model S on nearly every service visit! A Rivian Service Center in Ontario would be great ... a little closer than CM for me but would help relieve the stress in CM. I don't know how people can manage if they are hours and hours away from a SC.

I went to Costa Mesa last week for my First Mile and it was packed! Great folks, the host of our demo drive was an enthusiast. Had a great time just chatting about his background and car history.

Given some of the deliveries recently and their associated preorder dates, I'm inclined to also believe that Costa Mesa is a bottleneck for deliveries in addition to service. I'm seeing late 2021 preorders getting their R1S delivered in other areas of the country, especially in the PacNW where I just left. But in the OC, I think I saw March 2021 preorders just getting their R1S deliveries from Costa Mesa. Originally had a Q3 delivery for my 8/21 preorder, but after changing my address to Orange County, it was pushed to Q4.

Just conjecture, but was surprised to see only 3/21 preorders getting their deliveries now given the late 21 or early 22 deliveries happening elsewhere.

Ic.

I picked up mine at Early May and it was pretty empty. but service seemed busy at that time.
Now it is close to end of 2nd qtr, i am sure they are pushing as much as they could.

Unlike service, delivery only requires one salesperson/hour, while service time varies alot.
I think service faces much harder time than sales/delivery.

That's true, delivery should take nowhere as long as service. But the hour you quoted is just the interaction time when the customer is there.

Seeing the condition of some of the trucks that came off the auto-carriers, they def. spend a lot of time cleaning them up (absolutely filthy, looked like they went through a dust storm) and QCing them. I assume a lot of the end-of-the-quarter push out of the factory results in the service center having to fix minor items in prep for delivery.

I’ve had my R1T in for service 2x at the CM SC. Both appointments were 8-weeks out.

They have outgrown the building and that’s with adding an additional shift for technicians. They do seem to have gotten deliveries down to a science however.

Do you guys know how to reach out to the service advisor responsible for your cars? I dropped my car off yesterday and asked how would I be able to contact the advisor. She told me to use the app and mention her name, I would then be connected to her. But I tried today and the chat rep told me it was the wrong info. According to him he can't refer me my service advisor. If I wanted to inquire about my car then I have to go through the chat team, which he seemed to not be that helpful.

My Phoenix experience was 7 weeks for an appointment and 12 days to get it back. Also packed, and they also service 500 Amazon vans.
