Does this mean the rear underbody shield, spare tire and kit, and whatever additional the 20’s weigh over the 21 and 22’s adds about 500 lbs?

I wonder if this explains why the EPA rating of the 2023 R1T Large Quad with 20’s is 289 miles while on the Rivian website the estimate is only 274 miles. Maybe the latter reflects testing with the off road package and in all purpose mode rather than the previous mix of Sport and Conserve modes?

Is this a 150kWh pack? I see that number in the upper right hand corner as "recharge AC WattHrs". I thought Large was 135 not 150.

I guess we don't know the weight specs yet
Document states curb weight for the 21" dual motor R1S is 6722 lbs. Quad was 6843 lbs. So about 120 lbs less. GVWR is the same so all that extra weight becomes usable payload.

Test weight is rounded up to the next 500 lbs after considering added weight of a driver. I'm not familiar with what the driver weight is assumed to be for the tests. Actual curb weights are in the ARB filings at the bottom of the document.

Includes charging losses.

The expectation for dual motor AWD was 350 miles as listed on Rivian's website. This seems like a great outcome as they are now officially rated with what they told us they would be. About a 9%ish improvement in MPGe.

I expect real world range in most conditions to easily be 300 or more without having a conserve mode. I'll take it!

If I'm reading the chart correctly, it would seem that the dual-motor R1S with 21" wheels, has a prospective adjusted combined EPA range rating of ~352 miles. That compares with 321 miles for the quad R1S on the same wheels, and is only about a 9.6% improvement.

While that's not trivial, it's quite a bit less than I would have expected in going from four motors down to two. Is one of the conclusions that the new Enduro motors are not particularly efficient?
I would think that sounds like a weight loss thing.

I'm really not sure 9-10% is anything to sneeze at. That's a solid improvement in efficiency for the same aerodynamics and same tires. 350 mile range is excellent for a vehicle this size.

Thanks for explaining and pointing that out. Found the data in case anyone is interested:

I’m interested in the forthcoming Max Pack numbers and dual motor reviews. So far all the dual motor has convinced me to do is purchase a quad and use conserve only on long road trips. The only main advantage of dual so far that I can see other than cost savings is access to the max pack.

Interesting.. by my calculation my QM R1T has a curb weight of 7208 (UB Shield, Spare, 20s and Tonneau). That is quite a weight reduction and might make an 'upgrade' worthwhile.

But how much weight does the max pack add.. inquiring minds want to know.

Wait so RJ rumored that they are working on a more performance R1 "which is what I'm all about!" could it be 4 of these motors and HP in the ballpark 1400HP range ?

Not that I have access to unprocessed EPA submissions, because I don't, but I'm not seeing anything for max pack yet. Guessing it could be soon though.

I expect the battery to be the limiting factor for straight line performance, but with individual motor torque vectoring it should mean a significant bump in responsiveness in corners and loose off-road, and I hope that's what is being planned.
