I thought their estimated range for the max pack R1S is at least 390 miles. So.... Looks like 10 packs, at least until they actually tell us something.
Yeah, if that's the case then it's a terrible deal ($10000 for only an extra 40 miles?) and they might as well have just cancelled it instead of stringing us along for years like this.

If it's a matter of the added weight reducing payload then fine, they should just be straightforward that payload will be reduced by xxx for Max (Range) and let customers decide.

So far it's looking like they're really really wanting to punish anyone holding out for Max Pack.

I really hope they're just lowballing (to get more early pricing order holders to drop it and buy a Large Pack) and that I'll be pleasantly surprised and it comes in at 430+ mi EPA. I'm still not sure that would be worth losing two motors but at that number it would at least be worth seriously considering, since I do plan on towing.

I'm really hoping for something over 400 miles also. I thought I heard they are reconfiguring the batteries for the max pack for space reasons, as well as making it smaller. It would be nice to get greater range with a smaller pack size. Charging a 180kw battery will take a long time, especially on a level 2 charger.

For the dual motors, are there any towing specs? Is it still the same 10,000 lbs capacity as the quad motor?

If it is then I'm curious if the dual vs quad is like the difference between gas vs diesel. Both can tow, but it's HOW they tow that matters.

All the towing and payload specs are the same as the quad motor. I don't think you will notice a difference towing between the two.

Doesn't seem like much incentive to upgrade to the quad motor I guess.

What are you basing that on? Based on the information from the EPA the DM truck weighs quite a bit less (~300 lbs), I would expect the payload will increase by that amount.

Because that's what Rivian has stated in the email to Max pack holders when it said they would be switched to the dual motor version. They stated there are no changes to towing and payload and it would have the same ability as the quad (this is for max pack version of the dual motor). So, the large pack should be the same. Could have a bigger payload, but I doubt they will change the specs for it.

Well ok.. that can mean a lot of things.

Bottom line I would be surprised if they change the GVWR so the Payload can only increase for the DM large pack. Either way they will have to change one or the other.

I was informed by the person running the rivian view drive event in santa barbara a few weeks ago that the payload would remain the same with the max pac as they are modifying the suspension for the extra weight.

So we've got EPA certifications, on May 25th customer trucks started rolling off the line, deliveries were expected in June... Where's the dual motor news? I keep searching every day looking forward to a review of one or news of a delivery but mum's the word.

Rivian has historically considered vehicles in the hands of employees and their spouses as "customer deliveries", so I wouldn't hold my breath. I'm also keen to get some unbaiased information and hoping there's included some of the long awaited hardware improvements from gen 1 vehicles (eg. thermal management for charging/regen performance).

Agreed - I'm enjoying my quad very much, but since I'm planning on trading for a max pack in the future I am really eager to hear impressions of the performance dual motor.
