You will see tesla owners including myself going to CCS charging network :)
This won’t be anything new. I see this all the time in Sandy even with the SC stalls open Tesla peeps are using EA because it’s faster and cheaper.

One thing I haven’t seen from any of these announcements is whether there will be other non-Tesla NACS DCFCs. E.g., does RAN switch to NACS at some point.

I don’t love getting locked into Tesla’s idea of the right voltage, locations, prices, layouts (no pull-thru), etc. going forward. Good odds that for todays CCS trucks, an adapter on a supercharger will always be slower than RAN.

Oh well.

If future Rivians are built with NACS ports does that mean they will use adapter to plug into RAN stations (CCS)? Or that Rivian will soon build out RANs with NACS and older vehicles will use same adapter for the SCs? What a head scratcher. I wonder what's triggering the avalanche towards NACS away from CCS?

Zero chance of that. An adapter for the occasional road trip isn’t horrible.
The challenge is that the charge port is on the wrong side of the vehicle for Superchargers. For this to work, the adapter will need a couple feet of extension cord to fit.

While it isn’t the end of the world, it will be about as inconvenient of an adapter as can exist.

The Tesla charging cables are short and on the wrong side. How will this be dealt with?
Wont be an an issue for Rivian since the charging port is far forward. You will just be parked in the "wrong' stall forwards. Now Lightning and other might have issues with the short cords due to the charging point being farther back from the front on the truck.

now I'm wondering if my Lectron Tesla to J1772 adapter is going to be useful or obsolete.
It's still NIB.
different use case--it's for level 2 (or level 1) charging from a Tesla EVSE/destination charger. It won't support high amperage DCFC

Already seen this while charging at a place with both superchargers and Electricity America chargers. Tesla model x using the ccs charger because it was almost 1/2 the price

So, I am assuming that Tesla will ditch the "Magic Dock" !!!

To be honest, I would not mind paying a little more for using the supercharging network just for its reliability vs the CCS network
I'm not going out of my way and using a charger that likely takes twice as long in order to save 5 bucks on a road trip. I'll use whichever one is fastest and closet to my route.

We think that this a good thing overall. It will make our R1T much more usable with our Airstream Travel Trailer.

Yes, lots of support has been announced for non-Tesla NACS. There is a tracker listing all of the OEMs, CPOs, etc. that have made an announcement: https://evstation.com/tesla-nacs-charger-adoption-tracker/#tesla-nacs-adoption-tracker

I think all of the major charger manufacturers have announced support other than BTC.

Just because of a plug style ? You can use an adaptor available in 2024....
Because all of us existing owners now have a truck that is worth less…. Thanks Rivian.

It is not about saving !! It is about reliability of the tesla charging network.
