Beginning in 2025, right? Until then, it's CCS.Yes.

Agree. If your overall charging cost is 20c/kwh and your ratio of home vs fast charging is 90:10 then why should anyone really care what the DCFC cost is. I say raise the cost so the operators can make a nice penny which creates an incentive to install moreYou always have Chargepoint, EVgo and many others if SC pricing is
Does it matter? It makes your Rivian more valuable because you can go more places far easier. That's easily worth $500 to me but I don't care what it cost. I'm buying on day 1.
Tesla peeps are always pissed. At least that has been my experience, even when having the audacity of using a free Tesla Destination Charger at a hotel/motel. I had one owner furious at me a few weeks ago in May, as there were four chargers barely working and he demanded that I unplug as I was "drawing all the juice'. He was in his high-end Tesla; me in my R1T; another fellow with an older Tesla; and another with an i3. I attempted to explain that none of us would have an advantage over the other, and that sent him into a rage, and he stormed off.Tesla peeps are going to be pissed lol
no, we need RAN and 3rd party to keep building out.who needs RAN when you can have access to all the tesla supercharger? They might as well stop making RAN
Agree, it's a distraction from their core business. With this announcement they need to just kill off the RAN network once and for all. Rivian isn't Tesla, nobody knows what a RAN charger is anyways. Installing these things in odd locations doesn't help them either. Rivian isn't going to be some energy provider so just focus on truck/SUV products.I have said RAN was a waste of money from the beginning. Makes no sense to be in power distribution business...
Wow that is crappy! It will be nice to have that option of the Tesla SC but it for sure will be my last resort. I dont want to be dealing with people like this...Tesla peeps are always pissed. Later that evening "someone" reset the charger I was on, effectively killing the charge. When I should have walked out in the morning with a full charge, I gained a grand total of 9 miles.
So, I will wait for the adaptor that Rivian is making/providing, if and when they ever do. In the meantime I will continue to use the RAN network wherever possible, and supplement those with EA as needed. Tesla Destination Chargers are hit or miss at best, even they are all over where I normally travel. Your mileage may very. Tesla is on my radar if and when anything actually happens.
I appreciated the RAN/Waypoint in Yosemite NP last week (to charge my Tesla).Good news. I also agree with that Rivian should keep going with RAN; but only in National Parks and State Parks or similar areas.
For New Mexico: White Sands needs a RAN immediately. Elephant Butte too. For the Northern part, Navajo Lake and Chaco Canyon. Carlsbad Caverns in the far south.
I hope this is a charging adapter actually available in the gear shop- not like the “spare R1S tire available in gear shop for purchase”Rivian just sent out official email…
Are you fricken serious? That's insane, people are such f'ing dumbshits. Good you kept your cool, I think I would have gone postal.Tesla peeps are always pissed. I can certainly see having anything that's perceived as obsolete will decrease the price. You go to the 'dealer' lot and there are two R1Ts. One has a NACS port and one has a CCS port and both are the same cost, which one do you buy if all else is equal?
It's not complicated... its all about perceived convenience or obsolescence
I'd like to see Rivian partner with Tesla on the RAN as I'm sure that Tesla can do the installs quicker/cheaper than Rivian. So maybe Rivian can put some funds in to select "adventure" locations for Tesla to open. It would be good if they could be V4/MagicDock locations. That could benefit the customers of both companies...Agree, it's a distraction from their core business. With this announcement they need to just kill off the RAN network once and for all. If its an R1S you'll hear it coming from miles away.Would love to see a RAN in death valley
