Hey all, question for those who have had ceramic coating before. We've never bothered with any of our vehicles, but decided to have our new R1S (el cap) coated to retain the nice clean gloss look for a longer period of time. That said, one thing I have noticed the past two months since the work was done is the plastic trim gets dirty quick and stays pretty dirty even after powerwashing/hand washing and drying.

Are there any secrets to making this trim look good without having to feel like you are taking a power buffer to remove the dirt/grime? Perhaps I'm doing something wrong...

Hey @Jayhawkeye,

There are a couple of posts in the Cosmetic Upkeep forum, but this is the one that I think is most relevant to you.

The short version of it is that you can use Mr. Clean magic erasers to get it clean (still requires some elbow grease), but what you'll want to do is treat the plastic (once clean) with a product like Cerakote or Car Guys Plastic Restorer.
Thanks for leading me in the right direction! I’m a bit confused that I have to clean the trim even more now AFTER spending money to have it protected. Seems strange.

Typically an orange based cleaner works very well. May want to have some Xpel FUSION PLUS plastic and trim applied to those areas as well to aid in simplicity of clean.

A lot of detail shops will ceramic coat the paint but you need to specifically ask for the trim, glass, and wheels/calipers. I’d confirm they have it coated. If they didn’t, you’ll want to decontimate the trim then put some sort of coating on there.. CQUARTZ Dlux is really good then you can use CarPro Perl or something for general up keep.
