And just to jump on this, has anyone traded in a Rivian to Rivian and how did that go?

Rivian's trade in values are based on wholesale and not even what any other car dealer would give you. I was able to get 12k+ elsewhere and did not trade in with Rivian.

Rivian gave more fo 22 Subaru ascent than anyone else would. Only by $1k. But delivery tech just did a very quick look over while we looked at the Rivian. Didn’t have anything to say. Just handed us our plates and that was it. Payoff on loan still hasn’t happened more than a week later. Hopefully that goes smooth.

For me it was the easiest trade in and purchase process I’ve ever had. During the 8 step process you can upload info and pics of your vehicle and they give you an offer which still gives you the opportunity to go a different route if you want.

I traded in a 2017 Toyota Tacoma TRD Pro and they gave me $36900 for it, which was more than local dealers offered for it and only $1100 less than I paid for it 4 years ago. I live in CO, which does offer tax savings for trading in vs selling so it was a no brainer for me.

I drove it to the service center the day of my delivery, they confirmed the mileage and that was it.

Others have said Rivian low balled them, so I think it’s highly dependent on where you live and what you are trading in.

I traded in my Raptor - Rivian offered more than any of the other online players and the process was the smoothest I have ever had. As someone else mentioned, they took my plate off and said enjoy your R1T.

Rivian offered me the same as KBB.... but then the same dealership that I originally bought from gave me 4K more (38 from Rivian, 42 from dealer). So I went through dealer. Process (to the extent I went through it) was really straightforward and easy... but dunno how the hand-off would have gone

I'm still waiting for my R1S but currently have a 2019 Subaru Ascent. How was the move from the Ascent to the Rivian?

Great. I know a lot of people says it’s not luxury but it’s definitely an increase. We like the Subaru except the transmission and throttle response was poorly mapped in my opinion. The Subaru definitely did a few things better. Third row straps to raise back seats will be missed. These third row seats have to be moved up and down from second row access or crawl inside. Second row seperate temp controls and headliner vents. Second row built in sunshades. Built in sunshade for sunroof. Are just a few of the immediate things we noticed that we will miss. But everything else has been great. Overall the positives out number negatives but it is double the cost. Just some easily implemented misses.

Rivian offered me the KBB number, 21K$ for a 2017 Honda Ridgeline with over 90K miles. With the savings in sales tax and convenience was very easy decision.

Similar experience with my 4Runner...Rivian offered more than local dealers and no questions when I turned it in. But, but...you finally took delivery and no big announcement!?!?!?!? You've been waiting forever, congrats!

Thanks for replying!

I agree about the acceleration lag on the Ascent I think it is a combo of the CVT and is bit longer due to the Turbo.

I'm worried about the sunshade for the sunroof as I almost never open the shade in the Ascent. Only other thing I'm a bit worried about is lack of cupholders in the second row. Only having two in the center seatback could be an issue especially if we are using that center seat.

On my test drive it was a downpour and it handled the standing water better than the Ascent. I'm sure part of the reason was the weight. Also found the visibility is great which eliminating that concern.

Yes! Thank you! It all came together within 3 weeks after they sent me the "PPF has been removed from your order" email on 6/7. Picked up last Wednesday then was out of town over the weekend so we are still in our honeymoon phase:involve:

In this process currently. Will let you know the result on Thursday. So far - fair offer that beat everyone else out there by ~$2K
