I don't like either, but if #1 looks better IMHO. #2 looks too much like a Land Rover or something.

Now give me an R1T with shorter cab, longer bed option, I'd be rushing to trade mine in ASAP. ?

In these photos, look at the distance from the top of the wheel-well to the hood. It's short, unlike the renderings.

This hood is going to be LOW with a nice sporty front that will be a style departure from the R1 IMHO, but of course with the iconic light bar and cartoon eyes.

I suspect we'll take a look at it and immediately wish the R1 followed the same approach. Beginning in 2025 with the mid-cycle refresh I think the R1 will.

Look also at the straight back with high brake lights. This little SUV will be a hauler.

So, basically an R1S without the 3rd row = R2S?

Definitely like #1 better. #2 looks like the perfect soccer mom/dad vehicle. #1 looks like it will get you into some trouble.

Good trouble...

The “real” model under the sheet appears to have a boxy rear end like # 2 but it’s impossible to tell anything else about it other than its relative size. Definitely curious how it turns out!

I'm partial to the first one.

My hopes for the R2S are:
1) sized about like a Subaru outback
2) 7-8 inches of ground clearance (enough that curbs aren't a problem for doors and parking blocks don't scratch bottom)
3) simpler (non-air) suspension
4) simpler (non-presenting) door handles
5) simpler charge port door
6) very strong hitch receiver.... even if towing rating is only something like 2,000 lbs, I still want to be able to put a tray-style 4-bike rack back there without worry of frame damage or other scary things
7) sliding doors like a minivan (I realize this could be controversial but you can't beat the practicality, especially with kids)
8) heat pump

I just hope it doesn't end up like the Bronco Sport is to the real Bronco.

The Bronco Sport may share some of the front end styling with the Bronco, but otherwise it's a Ford Escape and I feel like it just dilutes the Bronco brand.

Think these came out last year in some article. AI generated renderings from some journalist. Nothing official.

I don't trust the "real" one under the sheet behind of RJ. No side view mirrors? Weird appendage in back? I think it was intentionally "off" a little. I think they didn't want to reveal too much and I'm OK with that.

But lower profile, smaller frunk, no 3rd row... all to get it under $70K seems like a great move. The iconic eyes and front light bar was genius, even if not to everyone's immediate liking. They can tweak that a lot and it will still be unmistakably Rivian.

I can pass on some more info I gathered from our tour guide of the plant on Monday. He's seen it in person and said it's about same height as the R1. He also said that it's more like a squattier version length wise. The interior is way different then the r1 and you're going to either love it or hate it ha. He said it was super nice on the inside. That's about all I could get out of him.
