I would love to hear opinions on which Roof Top Tent to purchase for my R1T. I am intrigued by the Air Cruiser that was listed on Kickstarter recently but I am concerned about the newness of it which of course didn’t stop me from purchasing the R1T. I am also looking at the new Roofnest Condor Overland 2 which has some interesting upgrades since the last version, although it’s nearly twice the price. Thoughts, including potential alternatives.

My overland gen 1 is great.
If it wasn't so solid I would absolutely get the gen 2.

One thing to note, the gen 2 may be slightly too big for the truck, as is the gen 1 is right on that line of not being too long for the truck bed

Thanks for the info. The gen 2 actually has a slightly smaller footprint. 60”L x 48”W for the gen 2 vs 60”L x 50”W for the gen 1.

If you're looking for a soft-shell inflatable RTT, check out the Dometic TRT 140 AIR.

I'll offer another positive vote for the Condor Overland - I have a gen 1 just over a year old and am still happy with it. I wrote it up here: Roofnest Condor Overland Roof Top Tent (RTT) + R1T | Rivian Forum - R1T R1S R2 News, Specs, Models, RIVN Stock -- Rivianforums.com

My only complaint is my struts are a little cosmetically rusted after lots of wet winter use (skiing etc.), but otherwise it has held together well. The Overland 2 looks like it fixed that with the internal struts and the HVAC port is clutch - I'd be inclined to grab one if I didn't have a perfectly good OG already set up.

The weight is one of the things that bothers me. At 190 lbs the Roofnest is nearly twice as heavy as the Air Cruiser.

another +1 from me for the Condor Overland. I too have the 1st gen and love what they've improved with the 2nd gen. Those inflatables look intriguing by the Condor Overland's aluminum shell and t-tracks for mounting gear are more valuable to me.

@kylealden with only a few trips on mine, I also noticed the struts showing rust spots. I emailed support and they suggested washing out the accessory channels because it could be iron dust left over from the powder coating used on the accessory channels. That...and they mailed me new struts under warranty.

That makes some sense, I also have more rust than expected on a couple of my channel mounted accessories. Thanks!
