Given that I quoted text from a forum member who spoke to a Rivian employee, “I received a call from the Rivian Southwest territory manager. During our conversation, she acknowledged the widespread issue with AC motor noise in the R1S that occurs in hot weather. …” and, “… I posted new today because I felt the call w/ Rivian last night was new news since they finally admit the issue exists. …”

What would satisfy you? Are you requiring a press release, an email from Rivian directly to you, or tweet from RJ?
Yes. (Ok maybe not the dramatic options stated), but until something is officially released - statement, TSB, etc, you can’t assume anything.

Trying to jump in before you’re at each others throats. We’re all hoping they do something, so no reason for everyone to be playing defense.

I wouldn’t jump to conclusions yet…Until there’s an official, written response about this, it’s all hearsay or anecdotal at best. I’m not doubting it, but we don’t even have proof this person even talked to Rivian at all.

I want them to acknowledge it as much as the next person, but until there’s an official statement, they haven’t agreed with anything.
Given the poster I quoted was very worked about the issue, I think that if a Rivian employee told the person it was an issue, and the person believed It, then that’s pretty compelling. If the poster had been denying the issue all along and then said Rivian acknowledged it I’d think they were just trying to shut down the discussion.

I’m not disagreeing, simply stating that there are a lot of times an “employee” states one thing that the company doesn’t back with action. Especially in the service world. For all we know, their engineering team came back and said it is normal (to them). Or the accounting team came back and said maybe, maybe not, but it’ll cost too much to fix anyway.

See where I’m going? Don’t trust these companies any more than you can throw them.

Service center mentioned AC issue is known issue

Improvement strategy is under development.

This is the best you will get until an official statement.

If it’s not good enough, time to cancel your pre-order so others can get their vehicles faster or just trade it in and move on.

Life is too short to mess around with small issues like this.

Oh, I see where you’re going. I tend to not trust corporations any further than I can throw them, too, but I’m counting on Rivian’s self-interest to come into play. The people experiencing this issue have vehicles which sound really bad. Not just to them, but to everyone within earshot outside the vehicle. I wrote early on that this provides an incentive for Rivian to address the issue. Leaving things as-is could cause new owners to return their vehicle and other people to not consider a purchase.

It seems like they acknowledged that the noise is an issue and now they need time to develop a fix.

I have no “more” option by my garage name. Is this the bit that has yet to be enabled?

I honestly don't understand why people are getting so worked up about this, the noise only lasts a couple minutes. I pre-cool my R1T about 15 minutes before I leave the office (because it's 95 degrees outside and the truck is 130+) and I've never heard a loud compressor doing it this way. The compressor is definitely loud if you don't pre-cool, but a) gross and b) nobody is going to think your vehicle is broken.

Because it didn’t used behave this way (for many but not all). It “broke” with 2023.22.0.

There is no reason the AC compressor should go full throttle without taking into account the ambient temperature and battery condition.

I get in my R1S in the morning and it’s 58° outside yet when I turn on the HVAC the compressor screams at full tilt until it regulates and realizes that much capacity is not needed.

Yes I can override it by turning on recycle. I shouldn’t have to. If it’s not needed during recycle it’s not needed for normal flow. It’s broken (software).

I’m somewhat convinced that this could be a massive vampire drain release. Funny that it’s probably one of the biggest online complaints and yet folks are bored when it gets addressed.

Tidal has 2m subscribers. Apple Music has 60m. Spotify has 140m. The real question is why have they spent any time on Tidal.
Because Tidal sound quality is superior and a must for those of us who prefer it to other lossless compression formats

Tidal app functionality on Rivian not so great. If I play a mix list then switch to lets say radio then come back to the same play list, it should pick up where I left off but it doesn't. It starts all over

Also I can't like or dislike a song.

I do agree with sound quality part, it is the best out there.

OK, maybe that's the gap on my end then; since the update there hasn't been a time where the AC turns on and full tilt isn't required :p . It should absolutely be taking into account the need to cool the cabin down significantly or just moderately.
