Camp Speaker not charging?

I noticed that our camp speaker (new 2023 R1S) is not charging. We tried to use it and it kept shutting off with 30 seconds or so. Then I connected the UBS C on the back to a charger and it charged and worked fine.

I tried a few times to assure it was seated correctly in the cavity but no change. Anyone else have this issue? Assume there is not on/off charge setting in the software somewhere (only see lock / unlock).

did you charge it fully outside of the vehicle using a USB cable? the manual says to do that the first time. then it should charge properly in the vehicle when you put it back.

This happens to me a lot. If you hold the sinc button for 30s and redock it usually it will start charging for me. It’s annoying.

That reset instruction exists in the on board computer if you look in settings.

I did not, so thanks for pointing this out. I normally read the manual, but didn’t this time. Lesson learned

I can't get my Camp Speaker to hold a charge with out side chargers. (many tried) including high current Apple laptops power supplies.
It will also not charge in the R1S at all. yes even after charging externally.
When charging with external charger it starts fine. white lights. iPhone connects via Bluetooth. but after some time (exact time not recorded) the control button lights go out and only the charge integrator slowly flashes white. if the power button responds at all it turns red. no other changes observed.

After reading the helpful comments above, I was able to charge it externally until I got a Green Light (confirming full charge). Now it is back in the car and we will see if it charges there after we use it in the future.

when you are parked, make sure the dock is locked to initiate speaker charging. Under settings/connect/accessory dock, you will find the lock/unlock button and the speaker's battery % indicator

I can lock and unlock mine from that screen, but it never shows a charge percentage anywhere. Even tried docking it with power on.

Mine has never charged in the truck. No idea why. Pretty useless. It should not be a hard thing to do. Every time I’ve tried to use it the battery is dead. Then I charge it, wait several months and the battery is dead.

I have same issue with R1S camp speaker delivered Monday. Charging it externally now as I somehow missed that despite reading the manual 20 times before delivery!

Will then test and report back. For others who say it just won’t charge or hold a charge, have you asked your SC for help and/or to address?

This speaker or charging system - or both - is complete garbage!

Every single time I’ve tried to be adventurous and outdoorsy with the speaker, I’m faced with having to first charge it to 100%. ? FAIL

Sounds like the charging starting in the console is an issue. As most report that charging externally with USB C works. I may try to reach into the cavity with a tester to see if there is power to the contacts.

Just when I thought the Camp Speaker could not be a bigger piece of sh1t, it’s currently stuck powered on and making a pairing bell sound EVERY 18 SECONDS!

Will not turn off.

I just keep my speaker at work on my desk pugged in and use it there.

Mine is dead as well. I didn't charge it externally but worked fine. Now doing the tabletop charging. If it doesn't hold a charge, I'll add it to the next service visit.
