How long have you been waiting for your Rivian?

I preordered an R1S 1,718 days ago (12/11/2018) and my delivery estimate is fall of 2024 to Montana. That’s nearly a six year wait.

I’m patient but it’s getting a bit silly. Is this Normal?

Our preorder date is 11/28/18. We wanted to live long enough to get our R1T. After almost four and a half years we got access to the R1 Shop. We took Factory Delivery of an orphan on 04/26/23. We are thrilled.

I would consider it "normal" based on your location. Any business, from McDonalds to Discount Tire to Best Buy, is going to prioritize the construction of new facilties based on sales in the demographic area. Rivian has stated for years that their goal is (paraphrasing) 100 miles/2 hours from a service center. Montana is beautiful (Big Sky is my favorite ski town), but it's not the hot spot of EV adoption or population density.

Got a friend in Seattle, Denver, or Boise? Swap your address to there and make it happen. Or do factory delivery.

Edit: or a friend in Salt Lake City. I always forget how close of a drive it is compared to Boise.

I’m wanting the max pack since that was what was pitched as an option back in ‘18. Looks like it may be any option for the dual motor in the fall. More time will tell.

Maybe they will reconfigure in Oct & call it the XL pack since the original Max pack option disappeared.

I’m no where near the record for the forum but have a personal record between deposit and delivery for anything I’ve ever purchased and that includes building a house from scratch.

Still feel like my R1S was worth the wait.
