I hit 5k with my AS+3 today and measured tire wear. Drum roll please... ???

1/32" in 5k, completely even wear all around, kept at 48PSI cold. I started at 11/32" and I'll likely change out at 4/32", putting me on track for 70k miles with these babies. Wahoo!

Do I need to rotate if I'm getting even wear? That seems silly. I have a spare I'd rotate in, but now I'm thinking just let it ride.
From my understanding the wear is slower when it is new. I would remeasure when you hit 15k or something. If you can get 70K out these tires, it would be breaking news on Rivian

Ahem - someone needs to be doing more launches. <cough> RIVIOT <cough cough>

I never rotate tires unless I see an issue, then I rotate and immediately address said issue. Also, I have owned (too many German) sports cars with offset tire sizes, so rotation was semi-pointless.

Now that I think about it, even the freaking i3 has different size rear tires. The i3. In my garage. <sigh>

YMMV, literally.

Not yet, it's showing 2.52 but I divide by 1.03 to account for 3% delta ?
I'm picking mine up Friday, so serious (and ignorant) question - the manual says that the estimated range in the nav updates based on your driving style and mode. Can you tell if it has adjusted, since your efficiency is higher, but all your numbers are off by 3%?

Good question, and not ignorant! But no, it does not. It's always shown 284 miles in All Purpose since the update from 125kWh to 130kWh.

A few other folks have pointed out that menu/reset/verbiage about drive style is false and doesn't really work. I always got more range than it listed, e.g. road trips say "arrive with 115" and I arrived with 5-10 miles more on ATs. Now it's even further off, like seriously 20-25 miles more on longer legs.

Went similarly with Goodyear Steadfast HT 275/60R20. (Good balance of highway and light offroad).

Tire weight is 46 lbs vs OEM ATs 47.5

Still to see if there is efficiency gain (though doubtful will be much), but definitely rides quieter.

Load/speed index 115H
Max PSI 51, riding on oem recommended 48 now.

Did the local shop mount the tires or did discount/americas tire not care about the weight rating?

Isn’t the vehicle smart enough to figure out efficiency on the new tires after some miles of driving? It’s weird that the system needs to be calibrated to a specific wheel and tire.

Rivian R1T R1S Scorpion AS+ tire swap (from 20" Scorpion AT) - WOW big difference IMG_20230917_105744

Has anyone on the Reddit board with that one guy who answers Rivian questions regularly asked about wheel size changes?

Goodyear mobile install service done at home.
Pre—arrival they only asked for size and argued about size difference 65 vs 60, but did not ask about load index.

Am I missing something?
1/32= 5k
11/32-4/32=7/32
7x5k = 35k not 70K

The tires would need to start out with 18/32" in order for that to work out.

You're absolutely right, my math was bad. I violated my own rule of No Math After 5PM, and here's the result. Ugh. Back to the drawing board.
