So… If they were able to boost the max charging to to 250kw hypothetically… would that mean I would FINALLY be able to get my R1T to connect successfully any 350kw charger? In 15 months of happy R1T ownership, I have never once been able to get my truck to connect to a 350kw at any service. However, I have had only one failure to connect at a 150kw charger, again using any service.

I get it… that the charging curve and the battery pack temps are the limit on charging speed and time, and at plugging into a 350kw charger likely would not decrease my charging time much, if at all. However, if 20% of the chargers out there are higher wattage, then I don't have access to 20% of the available infrastructure.

The ONLY thing I miss about my TESLA was that it connected every time without failure at EVERY charger, from the puniest to the most powerful.

I used to have the graph showing mine sustaining 220kW for over 20min, this was a pre-conditioned 10% SOC on an EA 350. So it’s possible, just have to have the right conditions and equipment available.

It's not the Rivian, it's the charger that isn't giving you the power the truck is asking for. You can get low 200kw at a 350kw charger if the charger is working correctly.

Parents would pay extra for this, I imagine.
Versus just using a used, cheap iPad for like $200 that has better resolution and bigger screen than the rear Rivian screen?

I am a brand new Rivian Forum member (although I have been a classiczcars Forum member for years with my 71 240Z).

I took delivery of my Forest Green R1S with black interior this Saturday. VIN# 19751. Order Date Dec. 2021. This my first EV and getting used to it. I noticed a couple issues right away like my passenger A pillar trim is not properly installed and the subwoofer has a rattle when the music is turned up. Hopefully, the Portland, OR service center isn't too backlogged but these are minor issues really.

I have been reading this forum since I ordered so I knew some things to ask the guide on delivery. My guide has been there 2 years and seemed very knowledgeable. I was told charging speed should be updated to 250kw peak speed very soon. She also mentioned streaming services will be coming likely before the end of the year. Both good news!

One improvement I would love to see if the option to have the main screen turn off and keep the icons at the bottom. Having a large screen always showing especially at night is a bit distracting. But so far love it and the Forest Green color has received universal praise.

Excited to be part of the community and I learn a lot!
He/She actually said "Soon"...... well then.....

Huh. Other than a “wouldn’t charge at all on any stall at any speed” EA a couple days ago, I’ve never had a problem with any 350kW stations. EA, EVgo, even the very rare ChargePoint 350kW. Did an EA 350 kW an hour ago, and an EVgo two days ago - got 215kW peak on both.

Boosting from 215kW to 250kW shouldn’t matter for what charging stations it works with - to reach 250kW requires boosting Amperage over CCS’ official maximum 500A. So you won’t get 250kW at any existing station anyway. (Except maybe RAN if they boost the maximum amperage beyond 500A the way Tesla does.) Maybe it’ll get you 250kW at a Tesla Supercharger when the official adapter comes out though…

Not with the current Tesla superchargers. MAYBE with the v4 chargers when they arrive... but that doesn't help with the rest of the Tesla supercharger network which is v3 or less.

Tesla v3 Magic Dock chargers are rated 250kW but will only charge Rivians at 150kW and some other brands only get 100kW. No adapter is going to change that, because it happens due to the voltage and current limits of the charger.
