I had a 6.5 feet classic Leitner bed rack, and I spent a few hours this weekend to adapt it to the R1T.

I had to cut the bed mounts in the center, and shave starts and ends to fit the inner shape of the bed. I used the original mount points by cutting a slot in the aluminum if the bed mount and using threaded stainless steel bar I curved in a U shape.

I used existing bolt mounts for the diagonal bars near the cab, and skipped the other rear brackets.

Overall it feels pretty sturdy and will help me mount my awning and maybe a RTT.

I need to spend some time in fit and finish cutting extra bolt space and paining everything a flat black, but the structure is in place.

I like your threaded bolt idea. I have a working power tonneau so I don’t this rack would work. I have been doing a different set up for the last 15 months

I’m not familiar with Leitner, but gotta give them props for those nice looking dime welds. Looks sturdy.

Nicely done on the conversion fitment. There may be an alternative whereby you remove the four cast pieces from the topsides and use those mounting bolds directly into the bed rails, not sure.

I envy your power tonneau.. your rack looks great as well. For me was mostly a reuse of what I had, it served me super well heavily loaded off-roading with it.

Yes the build quality is very very good, unfortunately my Pod XL is like an inch too long (I could have tried to go over the tailgate but didn’t felt right).

The vertical poles and top curve is a single piece bolted underneath the bed-touching horizontals, not sure I follow your suggestion.

I looked at the mounts and seemed that reusing their cast structure (and huge bolt) was much sturdier than any alternative I could have made myself.

I have a mig welder but too lazy (and low skills) to attempt aluminum welding ;)

Mine was also a reuse. I bought that rack for this. Don’t laugh…

I really loved this thing. Problem was the ICE.

I’m very tempted to get their ACS rack for the Maverick. Someone has already modified this to work on their he Rivian.

it is very good. For a vehicle with canopy options I would opt for that (but none available for Rivian yet and I had this available). A Sturdy canopy will give you similar load space but the stuff stays dry :)

Nice work. I am waiting for my R1T and I’ll need racks. I like the Leitner design. i reached out to them and they told me that they don’t have plans to make R1T racks. Which gets me into a bunch of questions about which mods need to be made to which racks. A few questions just in case anyone has already Solved this problem:

1. The design above cut the racks. The Ford Maveric box is 54.4 inches

Nice work! I like the design of the Leitner racks, but when I asked Leitner they they stated that they had no plans to produce a rack for the R1T. So I have a few questions for anyone who has tried to make on fit on the R1T:

1. Will the Leitner racks for the Ford Maverick work on the R1T? I’ve seen people get the Maverick tonneau covers to work, and the box length is 54.4 inches vs 54 but I don’t know about the racks.
2. It looks like the Leitner racks attach to the rails. The pictures I’ve see were a Rivian without a tonneau cover. Do the modified Leitner racks that attach to the rails interfere with the electric R1T tonneau cover?
3. Same question for the buttons on the R1T bed rails. When you attach a Leitner rack system does it cover up the access for the tonneau cover buttons. I’ve seen pictures showing access to the buttons, but no clue if modifications were needed to get this to work.
4. If you use the Leitner racks from the Ford Maverick, will the crossbars be the same height as the Rivian R1T crossbars on the cab?

Thanks for the info
