My name is Mike, and I have a (car) problem
I'd rather get 270 miles with a good charging curve and a reliable charging network. Who knows when in 2024 we'll get access to super chargers.
The Magic Dock ones are popping up everywhere now. Seems inevitable.

If I could buy a tri-motor for $120K right now I would in a heartbeat
Only because it will resell like the earliest HumEVs, north of $200K
I'm guessing Tesla is going to produce them at a high enough initial rate that you would be very hard pressed to get that kind of immediate resale out of them, especially with so many looking to flip their orders.

Yeah my tri-motor spec with FSD and the 500+ mile range was supposed to be $77k back on unveil night when I gave the $100 free interest 4 year loan. Only thing that might be right is that they offer a model with tri-motor and sell you FSD as an add on, the rest of everything they promised is probably wrong. Rivian getting power tonneau back soonish on the R1T and a decent amount of shop inventory may benefit them when the pricing does come out.

Only a couple more months until "reliable charging network" can't be used to sell Teslas. Arguably, buying a CCS vehicle over the next 24 months will be the best buy; you'll get an adapter, and like 50% more charging options than Teslas.
It's not clear that the entire SC network will be open. They are opening only enough to get the government cash. I'm not sure how many that will be.

The Count's preference order (ranked)

1) spend 100k on a decked-out R1T
2) spend 100k on a 2024 Lightning Pt+
3) drop 100k into a pit and set it on fire
4) spend 100k on a dumpster with a Tesla emblem A/K/A cyberTruCk
I'd at least hope that pit of fire is a slot machine or a roulette wheel. That way you at least get a glimmer of hope or a free drink.

The greater fool theory?
You definitely have too much faith in society as a whole.... I was once like you, then 2016 came around and not through one individual person or thing, the world fell apart.

Still, don’t underestimate how many Tesla fans there are. They will still sell more than R1T’s.
This maybe true, but they will have a larger scale and push out many more than Rivian can match currently. Hopefully the plant in GA will help.

I ended up waiting 9 months and then took a shop vehicle, apparently my original choice wasn't very popular....

Just a reminder that the Georgia plant will not be for production of R1. It will be making the R2, smaller crossover.

The post could also be complete BS.
That could well be true, but let's say that it is accurate. That final price is about what I would have expected. Hopefilly, it will perform well. I am anxious to see how it does in real world tests. I am very satisfied with Opal (our R1T) and not planning to replace her with a Cyber Truck any time soon.

Having owned a DeLorean for 31 years, a stainless steel outer body is NOT a good Idea. Maintenance of the stainless is quite time consuming.

Still volume, more numbers the better. I do hope to have this R1T and maybe in 3 years or so I'll replace my EV6 with an R1S or R2S
