100% I also would really like to see different rates for when a vehicle is above 90% on a DCFC. No reason when all units are in use to have someone plugged in charging to get that last 10%.

I also think just like gas cars EVs should show max DCFC rates on the door panel or even on the little flip down tabs. It would make things clear when you purchase and when you go and charge. Yes I know things can change after purchase but saying 50-100, 100-150, or 150+ inside might help push some 150 max vehicles off the 350 chargers.
Good idea but people don't read that stuff. There are folks who will put diesel in a gas vehicle if it weren't for the different nozzle sizes.

All of the AZ RAN locations are $.36/kWh as well. Very reasonable.

Still shows free for all chargers I've checked including the ones in CO & VA that was mentioned earlier. Forced closed app as well. Wonder if pricing is based on date of vehicle delivery..

Agreed. It would also be nice for them to reintroduce the Rivian subscription they were touting. It would be nice to have an all-in-one bundle for LTE, cheaper charging, and other features.

Have three tiers for RAN: non-Rivian, Rivian, Rivian premium. ?

Pass. It's already gonna suck to pay a fee for an infotainment system that is severely lacking in functionality. If it's bundled with charging that I rarely if ever use it would suck even more.

Booo.. Idle fees should only be charged when station is 50 percent full like Tesla and others do.

Good... 36kw is fair

Damn, that’s pretty cheap. It’s what I pay to charge off-peak at home!

When they open up their chargers to third party, they should be able to increase the prices for non Rivian

I think ultimately companies like Tesla and Rivian will have a problem charging off-brand cars more for electricity if they are receiving federal dollars and I can see some class action lawsuits bubbling up as a result.

That'd be similar to a Chevron gas station offering a gas discount for anyone who drives a Toyota.

I do think people should charge a higher rate for cars that charge slow who plug into a 350 charger when there's other slower options available. You're the one who bought/leased a car that only charges at 70kWh, then you should be relegated to the 50 kWh chargers.

Nothing new there, gas stations have been offering discounts for loyalty cards, etc for a long time. Lots of ways to institute this with loop holes, etc rather than just looking at the badge on the front, but achieve more or less the same thing.

They can get around that like Tesla does by offering a membership.

I agree. It will cause crazy load imbalancing and then when we go somewhere we'll be charged more. I think everyone should be on the same footing when they plug in. It's not us against the world...

Rivian delivered something on time! ?

In all seriousness, I fully support their move. Having free charging makes for a poor user experience because of bad incentives so people use the limited DCFC stations inappropriately.
I was hoping this rollout would drag on as another example of the "s00n" timeline.

That said I am pleasantly surprised to see that even RAN locations in CA are listed at $.36/kWh rather than some special inflated price for the golden state.

That rate is much better than Teslas…
It’s slightly below summer peak rates for TOU-EV-9 (4 - 9 pm). If someone charges 100kw, Rivians cost is $45 and customer only pays $36…rates will likely go up by June 1st…
Still 50% higher than home charging…
