This may be a bit niche for the people who playback music from their phone's local library.

While we wait for USB music, I'm largely using my phone for playback of a very large library stored on my Pixel 7 Pro. I had been using Blackplayer for playback and the Rivian receives music fine but all browsing has to be done on phone and no album art. I was blissfully unaware that Bluetooth receivers have advanced in last 10 years.

After tinkering in developer mode on my phone and enabling AVRCP 1.6 (which allows for album art to be sent over bluetooth), suddenly I had album covers on Rivian screen. Good deal but still no browsing or song select on Rivian screen.

At that point I tried probably 10 android music apps and found that Musicolet (very capable little player) does send the Rivian the artwork and current queue or album. Good deal.
However, the queue on the Rivian has weird behavior where it scrambles itself nonsensically when you pick a track. Sometimes it unscrambles and then scrambles again. You can still tap the song you want from the Rivian screen and it plays the right song. But still I'd like the queue to stay in the intended order of the album.

On my wife's minivan, everything works perfectly so I think this is just Rivian infortainment bugginess.

Anybody experience similar or manage to prevent the scramble? I wonder if an iPhone works better as well.

Thanks for any thoughts.

Yeah I had similar issues when I tried Bluetooth. I wish I had a fix for you but how I handled it was signing up for tidal and just using the native app.

I also had similar results. Same AAC codec, bit rate etc... I think I had album art working on one device I tried but also had inaccurate track listings shown on the screen.

As far as using BT audio I do have a decent setup now. I'm using my old LG phone as a dedicated music player for the R1. I use Mediamonkey to sync music to a network folder. The phone then sync's every 30 minutes to the NAS folder. The phone uses Neutron player because it can play by source and that updates in the background when new files are added/removed. So all I have to do is add/remove albums from the PC and hit sync. Then in the R1, just hit play/resume. I have a continuous source of updated music without touching the phone.

And if anyone wants to sign the USB audio petition... All your dreams may come true. Or it's a pointless exercise.

Just a note on the recent update.

In reading the notes on the 2023.42.1 update it mentioned Bluetooth playlists.

I just installed the update and sure enough, my complaint/observation from a few days ago (which I assumed would never get addressed), appears fully fixed just 5 days after my initial post.

If not for the snafu with the update, I may have received same day satisfaction.

Now when streaming an album, the tracklisting appears exactly as intended and you can use the big screen for track selection instead of the phone. Works perfect.

Thanks Rivian!

Changed it to AVRCP 1.6, turned off/on bluetooth and it worked! Can't believe you need to do this workaround for art work but I'm glad it fixed the annoying issue...
