How is there any risk? Speedometer and everything is still fine. You just don’t have the radio / nav / hvac controls. Just trying to figure out how you would risk someone?
How do you know if the info screen is the only thing at fault for sure ? this vehicle is controlled 100% by a computer and right now the computer is partially faulty thanks to a company that doesnt have a proper proccess to handle the computer updates. You drive it. I will no. let see hiw much time it will take them to fix this. What an embarrassment of a company I will never get tired to tell everyone about that

I drove it to work this morning and find it is safe. Indicators and other exterior lights work. You can see your speed, battery charge etc. it is just the infotainment portion of the vehicle that is stuck in a slow 'reboot' cycle. The logo appears in the center screen every 2 minutes or so and then goes back to black.

One reason why I never install anything first, let others hit it and deal with issues. The reality is the public is now the beta testers because companies, not just Rivian but Apple, Cisco, Samsung, etc etc, are moving too quickly to get software out instead of 'Quality' software out.

I wonder if this will impact the stock prices……
I'll answer that one: problem with an over the air update will have zero impact on stock price.

A Tesla in my area just caught fire after returning from having battery replaced at service center; thankfully got it out of the garage before the house burned down.. but made for some great footage on the nightly news in a major TV market. Tesla stock didn't take a hit from that as best I can tell.....

Crud. I am a victim of the failed update too. Haven’t ever had a problem so installed as soon as got notification. Truck was at house so found out this morning when trying to leave.

As someone who is currently half way (3,000 miles) into a 6,000+ mile road trip with my family, lesson learned. No more updating for me while away from home!

While the R1S is drivable, not having HVAC control with my wife, < 6 month old baby, and dog in the car is a no go. Also, road tripping without navigation is doable (have done it in other EVs) but adds a ton of overhead for planning and additional stress.

Fingers crossed there is a fix soon. Definitely hope I don’t have to make a multi-hour detour to the nearest SC for it too ?
