Dumb question. Too lazy to google or go down a Reddit rabbit-hole right now. I got one of those "Pixel Watch 2"'s with my Pixel 8 Pro purchase (the WiFi version, not the LTE version). Figured I'll probably gift it for Christmas since I never wear a watch. But -- can you lock and unlock truck with a watch?

Not currently, at least that I’ve found. I use iPhone/Apple Watch, but the Rivian App doesn’t have a watch app and I haven’t found any third party apps yet.

I’d guess one will come out at some point in the future, similar to the “Tesla Remote” 3rd Party app that added watch and some other features not supported in the main Tesla App.

I use shortcuts on my iPhone to unlock/lock and open frunk. Which also works on the Apple Watch.

You can use the iOS Shortcuts app to access Rivian App functions like Open/Close Trunk Lock/Unlock Doors, etc. Once you've created these shortcuts, you can then place them on your homescreen on the phone or make them available to your Apple Watch.

I haven't had an Android phone or watch in a while but I presume it has similar capabilities.

Probably the same type of person who has a phone on them all day long, that also accurately displays the time?

I didn't wear a watch for YEARS, personally. I don't like things on my wrists. But I have one now, because it's a smart watch and the convenience of not having to look at my phone (where I inevitably get distracted and lose productivity) is more important to me.

That is actually my favorite thing about my apple watch. I quickly look at the notification and can decide if I need to actually grab my phone or not (most of the time not). And things I don't want notifications for don't show up on the watch so they will just get looked at next time I see it on my phone. And I have a nice analog field watch for times I don't want any of that or have to go somewhere where security doesn't allow connected devices.

Also the health info I get from the apple watch is nice. The day I showed up at the Denver service center to pick up my truck it gave me a warning that my heartbeat rose over 100bpm for more than 10 minutes :CWL:

Funny you should mention that--I had a similar experience white-knuckling it driving thru Trenton and into NYC to drop off at the Brooklyn SC my first service visit. THANK GOODNESS Gaithersburg now exists. My HRV went to hell and my stress levels were albeit maxed out for over 45 minutes of that drive. Not sure if it helped or it's a courtesy they were extending to all customers, but the service advisor at the Brooklyn SC agreed to have my truck flatbed towed back to my house when they finished with it!

I haven't worn a watch in over 20 years, since getting my first cell phone. Why have multiple devices that do the same thing?
I was just having fun at Mike's expense, but my actual answer to your question is that it actually saves me from looking at my phone more often. I do need to stay connected because of our business, but it helps me filter what I act on and when.

That's why I stopped wearing my Casio databank.

Oh I know exactly what you are talking about up there. We lived in Brooklyn for 3 years and I regularly had to drive to other surrounding states like CT, PA, NJ to work and it was so stressful every day. It would take me 2 hours most mornings just to get out of Manhattan. Then we moved to Philly for another 10 years and I did the same thing from there. It's super stressful.

I've remained connected with the Takara Kronoform since the early 80s. Now my Galaxy watch just keeps me informed on sports scores, potential overtime shifts and memes.

I just checked on my phone and it looks like the Rivian app for Android doesn't support widgets yet. But this is certainly a cool idea, if/when they do. ?
