Just got the R1S this past week. Is it just me or is the only option to see the odometer is in the about screen?

There’s so much empty space in the gauge cluster screen, why not put it there like 99.9% of all the cars in the world?

Because Rivian is following Tesla. Tesla doesn't show the odometer so Rivian is doing the same thing. Apparently Tesla way is cool!

It's also in app. But yeah. Dumb location. It used to be "not as bad" under the vehicle menu iirc, but they moved it a few updates ago to an even-worse location in settings. Same for the trip-meters. Should have them on the driver display.

I have no desire for a physical or yet another virtual odometer to be added. It’s right there in your app. Fewer taps than it takes for anyone to navigate or post a complaint regarding minutiae in this forum. Used to a traditional car? Rather have a traditional car full of gauges and displays like a casino console? Get a traditional car. Ability to adapt is why homosapiens survived and thrived to dominate the planet. There is nothing inherently wrong with how odometer info is made available in this new car. It’s just not what you are used to. Solution to this new car you knowingly chose to buy: Adapt. Adapt to a new car with new tech and new way of going from A to B.

There are bigger and actual flaws than this—that Rivian needs to address (like service/support infrastructure and cost of repairs).

I don't think it's a big deal.

We're just used to seeing the odometer right i front of us in other cars. But, honestly, how often do you really look at the odometer? When buying/selling. or when you take it in for service and the service department wants to check it.

I guess there are cases when you you don't have an address and just directions that tell you to travel "x" miles after the "y" driveway on your right.

I am extremely disappointed I haven't managed to bring the screen up any time I'm at a single number followed by all zeros so I can share that with my friends here.

You don't need an odometer. You're supposed to be out on adventures, not watching the miles tick by....

A number of owners have been asking Rivian to put the Odometer on the driver screen for quite a while.

The reason is that you will then be able to see how few miles you actually get per charge!

I would like to see my mileage and be able to see how far certain shops, restaurants etc. are from my rural home.
I don't want to have to open any apps or fiddle with my screen while I'm driving.
I don't want to always having to set my trip in the nav system, plus I want to be able to drive by a landmark, glance at my screen in front of me, and see how far it is while I'm going somewhere else.

Thanks for feeling more “evolved” and superior to the rest of us, but I value safety and not have to take my eyes off the road and tap the screen or whip out my phone in the car. Building better user interfaces is about keeping things easy, safe and convenient.

I’d be glad to adapt if things were made more straight forward.

Sounds like yo do not care about the actual miles. You can drive with the gauge screen and easily see that on the front trip meter.
