If Tesla really has 1 million+ reservations and the capacity of building 250k Cybertrucks per year, it will be at least 4-5 years before a new order would take delivery.I've not looked at the details yet, but based on those prices I think Rivian will need to come down a bit to stay competitive. The specs and prices are compelling at first glance.
I also like idea of the 61K RWD. While not coming available for a while I imagine a lot of folks that just need a pickup will find it attractive. Rivian should consider doing the same.
In addition, the buyer of the R1T will own a truck and not a toy.Rivian has nothing to worry about when people can simply order an R1T and take delivery in a matter of weeks.
Only things redeeming about the CT right now is the upgraded 48v/800 architecture, the vehicle to home/ powershare capability, and steer by wire otherwise this is a mediocre reveal after all of that.

250KW max charging -- wouldn't you expect more if it's 800v architecture?More specs ....

And the CT occupants. What makes a vehicle safer are the crumple zones that help reduce the g-force from the sudden deceleration. Without those the occupants will absorb all that force.I also wonder if the shatter resistant glass and bullet proof SS body panels really live up to the hype, how will First Responders extricate you? Also, as Elon mentioned, the Cybertruck will win in any crash. So I pity the first people that get plowed into by a Cybertruck ... RIP
Gas generator that straps into the "vault" to charge the truck while drivingWhat’s this business about a range extender I see on their website? 440 miles of range???
LOL. I'm not sure what they expected. Has Elon ever delivered on his promises? Like, ever? And guaranteed that RWD model won't see the light of day until they have exhausted demand for the higher priced vehicles, and by that time the price will be higher than what they show here. Add in the fact that the truck just has so many bad design decisions for the sake of its ridiculous looks. You have to be really starved for attention or an Elon simp to actually buy one of these things. I actually can't wait to see these on the road just so I can see what kind of idiots will actually drive them. The comments over on the cybertruck forum are overwhelmingly negative.
I'll bet some serious money the range extender is simply a gas powered generator. So there is an extender mode? Is it something that straps-on?
