Anyone else having issues with one door handle opening later and much louder than the rest? It only happens after it’s been locked for a while, like if you lock, unlock over and over again to see if it happens, it won’t. But every morning, leaving work, after it sits for a while, it does it. It’s the rear driver side if that matters. And I’m in Florida so no ice freezing it shut or anything.

Yes. A couple of mine have done this for months. I showed it to mobile tech and he said they will just replace the whole handle mechanism if it stops working completely.

I'd spray some dry lube to see if that works.

So we’re expected to wait for it to fail completely before they’ll do anything about it?

If by "fail" you mean that you'd just have to manually open the door handle by pressing on it, then yes that sounds like what they said. Or, do as @jplblue suggests and give the mechanism a quick shot of dry lube to see if it helps.

Edit: I'd also double check to make sure it isn't rubbing on the surround somewhere - as that's something I'm sure they'd address right away as it could rub off paint.

Not performing as intended is failing. So yes, that’s exactly what I meant. For the price tag on this vehicle, everything should be working as advertised and they should be working to fix it if not.

It actually sounds like a spring mechanism doesn't have enough tension or has worn prematurely. But half the time it still works fine.

Certainly a possible explanation as well. Though I was thinking it was more of a "sticky" issue since he said that when it eventually pops out, it does so loudly, so theoretically it has enough force. Who knows. Hope it gets resolved for the OP.

My bad, I can't read...I'll go start another thread for my issue. :CWL: Jk.

Cool, was just trying to help you out with some ways to try and deal with it. I agree it should work as it is supposed to.

Haven't personally but some people have their handles not properly aligned in the cavity, causing it to rub on the door skin. Is that what's happening here?

I’ve wondered about this. With exposure to the elements does the mechanism need occasional cleaning and lubrication?

They appear to be aligned well. The loud pop occurs when it seems to get stuck and then like more quickly jumps open trying to finish at the same time as the other handles.
Rivian chat advised me to do a vehicle restart. It didn’t help

I’m asking Rivian support. But I park in the garage, have no snow or ice here. And only took delivery on Nov 10.
