Hi guys,

So, I literally received my truck the other day, and I had already purchased the @EV Sportline EV1 tie-down ring kit. I started installing it, and two of the bolts kind of stopped halfway in and got stuck there (in the picture and video). I applied a little more pressure, and the entire screw receiver (red arrow in the pic) came out of the bed .
I think I got a bad batch of screws from EV1, but I will reach out to them. I need to fix the screw receivers in the bed. One of the options I found is from Lowe's (3rd pic). Has that happened to anyone, or maybe you can guide me on where I can buy those screw receivers? I am not sure if it's even called that way.

Depends on how much work you want to do. If you drill them out you could buy a Nutsert kit from amazon and just replace them.

I had this issue, I had cross threaded one and it was free turning insde. I took it for another issue and had the Rivian SC fix it.

Just be careful with your fix if you go DIY, at least make sure it will still be easy for service to remove that panel if they need to get in there.

I was thinking of creating a ticket but i literally received the truck on Friday 8th. My concern is that they will see that i installed those tie downs myself and obviously i have to take the blame for it. Not sure if i tell them what happened they will be okay sending a mobile technician maybe?

You can also just buy the nutsert tool and the size of expansion nut you need. I have used these for all kinds of things with thin hard walls. Added 4 to the bed of my Tacoma to install a tool box, and around work I use them on the vinyl fencing.

I have been pretty frank with the service folks and tell them what I broke, they have been mostly cool.

Is it desperate that you have all those tie downs? If not just live without one for a while until you need other service on your truck then when you drop it off point it out to the folks on the ground and ask if they can fix it. In my experience they are very accommodating if you have the right attitude. It would be a lot to ask them for mobile service for just that issue in my opinion.

I really appreciate y'all and the responses and ideas.

I will take @jjswan33's advice and wait for whenever I have to do something on the truck and just be honest with the SC. If not i will order that rivet nut tool. At least now I know what to do.
I fixed it for now with those wing toggle bolts temporary.

The joys of getting a 100k truck and break something on the 2nd day of ownership ?

Another thing I noticed with the tie downs that they are selling... they include and instruct you to install spring washers.

Don't do that: https://www.linkedin.com/pulse/nasa-split-lock-washers-useless-roger-bogrash/

NASA's known since 1990 those are useless (and in some instances even do the OPPOSITE of what they advertise). I've worked at companies that have outright banned them. I'd recommend NO split rings and use a dab of threadlocker.

Does anyone know what type of bolts EV1 use in their kit?
