Makes sense. Which means if you want to connect your phone to your rivian vehicle hotspot, you’ll loose connectivity to your carplay device.

Just Arrived!

1EV/EV Sportline was kind enough to send me a "pre-release" display kit to support the aforementioned product review thread for Forum members. And yes, I did pay for my display, but I did benefit from getting it a tad bit early.

I’m told the shipping plan remains “December” for pre-orders.

Over the next several days/week, my plan is to install this pre-release unit, using the instructions and hardware provided by 1EV/EV Sportline - and then offer some observations and “installation tips,” as part of that effort. Next, I will spend a day or so, “getting to know” the system menus, features, actual functionality (e.g., Audio quality, screen responsiveness, and more), and forward visibility with the system in place, etc. Lastly, I will contemplate whether or not there are any other wire routing options, how using the 12v plug approach works (Yeah, I have one…. Sorry if your newer R1 does not).

Only after all of this, will I prepare, create and post the separate review thread (link will be posted in this thread as well). In the meantime, please enjoy these unboxing pictures. Questions welcome (by posting here, so all can benefit from the Q&A).

I seems like the EV Sportline offering is much more than the referenced unheard of company in China, with a total review count of 20 ?. But sure, most link to a phone (as you show in that example) and run CarPlay via that method. I have something similar to the one referenced, but a different form factor - unheard of Chinese brand priced right around $100. Looking forward to this @EV Sportline replacement to that and having direct BT audio fed to the Rivian system and NOT via an FM transmitter, like my current junker. I recall there were several posts a while back that described how this offering is different than the never heard of company name stuff you see on Amazon.

I have this screen installed on my R1S dash and the bluetooth works exactly the way you're describing.

@jebinc - As you do your review can you please include how easy it is to remove and replace? For now (until my wife comes around), my plan is to mount it only when we're taking longer trips. Since 80% of our driving is local (and Lancaster PA doesn't really have traffic jams), we only use CP when leaving town. Thanks and I'm looking forward to your report!
