Dude! It’s all about climate change. I am very disappointed that you did not go back to another electric vehicle. I’ve driven pickups all of my life and the R1t is the easiest to maneuver and park than any that I have ever owned. Also has the best ride, way better than my wife’s Model S.
Think about the future.

He mentioned the charging on road trips. Even if you could pull up to a charger that worked and you could charge without any issues, just charging alone could add hours to a road trip. Not everyone wants to wait around to charge, myself included, every couple of hours. And just because it’s the most maneuverable truck you have driven, doesn’t mean it isn't cumbersome in tight spaces.

With the R1T being my first truck, I agree with OP that there's definitely an adjustment period and preferred to drive our ID4 to places with tight parking like the Texas State Fair.

That being said, I was really impressed with the turning radius and we both found the R1T to be much more comfortable so we took it as much as we could.

Charging is about to change drastically for the better in 6 months or less. Still need some details, but assuming everything works out, complaints about charging are going to drop a lot.

Dude, don’t fall for "EV’s will save the world" BS, they are great state of the art vehicles but are still initially very earth unfriendly and not for everyone, in fact if everyone drove an EV we'd be in a lot worse shape as the electric grid would probably fail especially in states like CA. I have driven EV's for over 4 years and loved the Tesla 3 as well as the Rivian but the Rivian was more than I needed and yes I do not want to deal with the road trip charging hassles. I decided to go back to an ICE vehicle for the next two years or so and when the time is right for me I will go back to an EV. As far as a V8 being a dinosaur that was a strategic choice as they are dinosaurs and for that reason once extinct they will become in demand for certain folks, at least that's what I think...…

Good luck on the future demand part...
Never said anything about "EVs will save the world". There are many factors and choices. EVs are part of the equation

Yep EVs aren’t perfect so we should just do nothing. Probably should just go back to dumping all our waste into the oceans and rivers. It’s easier that way /s

EV’s are only a small part of solving climate change but they are a part that we can participate in. The part about the electrical system crashing if everyone drove ev’s is BS. I have logged lots of miles on road trips and don’t find charging that difficult.

People are really underestimating the impact this is going to have. In 10 years we will look back at this as the catalyst that enabled widespread EV adoption.
Completely agree. Even though SC network was one of Tesla’s biggest moats, I think they are very aware that they can’t drive widespread adoption by themselves. Now that we are getting out of the early adopters phase of EV adoption, all it takes is 1-2 bad experiences with charging for people to ditch their EV to go back to ICE. And as we all know, human nature is to spread bad experiences among friends/family.

I hate the dealer experience, the Rivian point of sale experience was so much better (like our Tesla), but I am not super happy with the service experience and wait long times, both to get in and then to get fixes. Hoping things will improve.
I'm headed to the Toyota dealer now to help the wife with Rav4 Prime purchase, and it's a totally different mindset than I've ever had with any Rivian experience. Purchase, SC visit, mobile service, were all happy and great. For this experience, I'm geared up ...

I must be crazy because before I got my R1T last week, I actually would rent EV’s for my road trips instead of having to driving my ICE. Everyone has their preferences but the fear of long distance driving with EV’s is incredibly overblown.
Yeah, you're crazy.

This kind of attitude and lecturing people is a huge turn off for mainstream EV adoption. Not everyone has the same priorities you do and no one really wants to hear a lecture on what they should be doing. I'm sure if we all looked at the way you live we could find something we didn't agree with and could lecture you about.

Getting people to switch to EVs will be done when you prove to them why an EV fits THEIR priorities not yours. There are still some drawbacks to EVs, so I understand some people not wanting to deal with them. For me ICE drives poorly compared to an EV and as such I couldn't go back. Some people can't charge at home or put on too many miles a day and I don't fault them for ICE.
