4-wheel drifting is fun when you initiate it. Not so much fun when the weather does it for you.

I could swear those cars across the street in the seventh pick have targets painted in them. Maybe just the reflections from the ice.

Surprisingly well actually. As a person in the same storm, I unplugged at the start and had to clear some freezing rain to shut the charge port all the way. Freezing rain all night, probably 1/2 inch or so on the vehicles.

Walked out to check on it and handles popped out no problem. You can see it's currently unlocked too.

Also when unlocking it was sub-freezing temps, and nothing had started to melt yet. This pic is mid-melt, but handled things like a champ in sub-freezing, and totally encased in ice.

That’s great to hear. I assume the wider handle design probably makes it work better than a Tesla handle which is quite slim. I am also in PDX but our R1S was covered so I wasn’t able to see how the vehicle responded to freezing rain.

I made the foolish choice to leave my T plugged in. I had to run a propane heater at it for ~10 minutes to melt enough ice to get the charge panel shut. Hopefully it's ok - sounds a little crunchy opening/closing. I also cleared the ice from the mirrors and handles before I tried to unlock it. Ran defrost for 10 minutes as well. It's still pretty encased but I figure it will either warm up like they are calling for or else I won't go anywhere tomorrow either!

Edit: clarifying charge port comments.

Doesn't look like any sensors were actively heating like last year so Rivian looks to have squashed that bug. Not unusual for cars to slide down driveways when parked during ice storms. Glad you faired well.

I definitely think the rearview mirror heat source is gone. No difference there relative to the rest of the windshield.
Thinking about the slipping, I left a big pile of snow behind the rear tires to provide a block. Now those blocks are 4 inches of solid ice!
