So on a related note, I have a gate to my community which has a really crappy little remote that seems to only send a signal to open the gate quickly then stops transiting..

I've always had trouble programming that little fob to any of my vehicles.. with enough time and cursing it eventually seems to get the code captured. That being said unfortunately that wasn't the case with the Rivian.

I thought about it for a minute and decided to get a cheap aftermarket code learning remote off Amazon and cloned the gate to this device. Then I told the R1T to learn this remote instead of the other one and *poof* worked first try..

So if you guys have automatic gates or something having shorter transmit times you might want to look up a 3rd party remote to clone your current remote to then try paining the truck with this..

I know it seems weird but it totally worked in my situation and now both my garage and gate work great with the truck.

Oh and in case anyone cares this is the device I used to work around my issue.

Best of luck everyone!
?
I’m curious of others are running into the same issue I’m having trying to program my gates. I can get the truck to read the transmitter but it fails at the next step.

I have two Liftmaster garage doors and one Liftmaster gate one of those worked, the others didn’t. However thanks to this wonderful forum I can use Alexa routine for the others. Just so happens the one I need to park the R1S in is the ONLY one that worked

We have an uncommon brand of opener, Gaurdian, which came with the house. It was possible to get other HomeLink programmable openers in others cars to recognize the remote, but you had to be in the ~25’ driveway for them to work. The Rivian’s programmable opener didn’t work with it at all, which didn’t surprise me given how poorly the opener works with others. I got an external Genie receiver with remote for $60, IIRC. Now all of our vehicles can control the opener from ~300’ away. All in all, we’re happier than if the Rivian worked the same as the other cars and needed us to be in the driveway to control the opener.

yeah i tried a couple combinations of the learn button and none worked.
Same my liftmaster gate just cannot add. It claims it adds it but when you hit test..nothing. You also can't hit the cancel button.

Getting an external Genie is what I will have to try. Did you get this one?
External Receiver - 41486R

My old Jeep works with my opener, my wife's electric MINI works fine with my opener, my Rivian won't pair!

We have two new Linear garage door openers which are incomaptible with the Rivian software. I spent 45 minutes on the phone with their service guy to no avail. Too bad they didn't just use HomeLink like most other car companies do; it's pretty bullet proof. I appreciate Rivians efforts to innovate, but, in this case they wasted their and our time!!!

Same problem - 318 MHz Linear opener...very simple no rolling-code 9 binary dip switch. Puzzling why it works on every car I've owned in the last 10 years, but not the Rivian.

Most newer openers use the rolling code 2.0 version.
