I like the look of the Rivian headlights and the look of the front of the truck. It’s unique.

OP is right, most people find the front of the R1 lineup unattractive but like all other sides of the vehicles. I personally don’t think the issue is the pill shaped lights, I think it has more to do with the large front frosted light bar, or maybe it’s the combination of both. The light bar is what makes it look cartoonish, like a Fisher-Price toy as opposed to looking like a Tonka truck toy - which is more desirable. I think RJ got it wrong when he said they needed to design the front to look “friendly”. It’s a utility, we don’t need to make friends with it.

I truly believing that if Rivian came out with a round headlight similar to the Jeep Wrangler they would have pulled a lot more customers. Everyone I talk to love the truck except for the headlights. I feel the same. Rivian please change them. If you do I will sell my Tesla and buy a Rivian.
Could not disagree more!

Wow, the reason I keep reading this thread is that I read about everything on Rivian Forums. This thread is more disappointing than most. I didn't realize that so many Rivian owners hated the way the front end looks. If it's that bad, why did they buy it???????

Wow! Rivian owners sure are sensitive. I do not like the Cybertruck either. Just saying they only thing that is keeping me from getting the Rivian is the headlights. Don't kill me for my opinion.
I think the R1 styling overall is very good, but I agree that the headlights are the weak spot in the styling of these vehicles. I'm not at all a fan of the headlights, but they are unique and I can look past the headlights because the rest of the vehicle looks really good to me.

I did this to break up the front end. Works on the lighter colored trucks. So far, polls of the "Rivian" community have been split about 55/60 to 40/45. Those not part of the "Rivian" community however, overwhelmingly prefer it nearly 80/20. I'm still on the fence myself. Was easy to add with vinyl and will be even easier to remove if that's what I choose to do. It does help distract from the headlights though, part of the reason I do like. Like many, love the truck from all angles but the front has never been my favorite.

Was more on the fence about the "RIVIAN" until I saw the flashing charging sequence at night. Looks really cool changing the four shades of green.

I really like that a lot. And to me, the reason it works is mainly because it makes the ends of the light bar look like the headlights... and the actual headlights appear to be more like auxiliary lights or fog lights. Either way, I really think your modification fixes the front end styling. Great job.

You are seeing what you want to see. I've talked to many different people who quite like the front end. Just because you don't isn't representative of a universal opinion. I have gotten more than one person giving me a thumbs up or an unsolicited conversation about my truck. There has never been another vehicle I've owned that has caused complete strangers to come up and ask me about it. My Rivian generates a ton of positive interest, and it would be a catastrophic mistake to change such a strong brand identifiable feature.
Honestly, just about everyone I've talked to about Rivians say the same thing----great looking vehicles, other than the headlights.

I'm not sure where the divide is here, other than the fact that most on this forum who are supporting the headlight design are owners. For non-owners, I think the majority would prefer a different headlight design. But hey, that's fine, isn't it? Different opinions make the world go around....

And just about everyone i've talked to has said the opposite.

Ugly is on the eye. I actually like the headlights on my R1S. A lot.
Totally agree. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Just look at the Pontiac Aztec. People bought those also.

I didn't think of it that way but yeah it combines the headlights. Kinda like a grill.

Funny, I mentioned to my friends about the grief I received on this forum they all agreed that the headlights are not attractive. Did you ask people that knew you had the Rivian. If I had a friend with a car and I did not like something about it I wouldn't tell them. I would be happy for them.
