To somewhat derail this - Elon is one personal tragedy away from becoming a comic book super villain. Just happy it's worked out so far but I think we as a society need a plan to stop him just in case.
  • Underground layer - possible
  • Space base - coming
  • Controls hoards of autonomous machines - check
  • Transports himself in bullet proof vehicles - check
  • Mind control - working on it
  • Control of power grid - in several places
  • Substantial influence of financial markets - check

May I suggest you go to SpaceX and take a tour. It might open your eyes.
Lol your assumptions suck. One of my closest friends was a Sr Engineer at SpaceX for years. I've eaten there multiple times, saw the Dragon capsule, was on the manufacturing floor, etc etc

SpaceX is amazing. Tesla is amazing. That does not mean I need to like Elon's personality and it certainly doesn't mean his companies' successes exempt him from criticism about his Twitter account.

The word "engineer" is highly abused. In some states or countries, public use of the word as a title requires holding professional certification, and a degree is not sufficient. It's barely enforced in general.
literally every State. If he wants to start taking the liability for the engineering decisions at Tesla by getting a PE license and stamping their designs, great. Until then, it's honestly frustrating that he refers to himself as one. He doesn't have a degree, he's not licensed, and he doesn't take on the personal liability for engineering decisions.

I think it would be more correct to say the Musk does not have a degree in engineering. One doesn't have to have a degree in order to be an engineer.
So easy even a 2 yr old can do it…. ?

Ability to execute has nothing to do with calling oneself an engineer. If I’m really good at diagnosing people’s illnesses but don’t even have a nursing degree, let alone an MD, I still wouldn’t call myself a nurse or doctor. Elon could be the best mechanical guy on the planet—he’s not—but he still shouldn’t be calling himself a engineer because he’s not one.

My son is an engineer at Boeing, but he only has his masters degree. Boeing paid for the masters degree

Very cool for him!
He's smarter than I am in some areas, but I'm old and crafty and have almost 30 years more experience pretending to be an adult than he has.

I've had the honor of knowing some very smart people in my life, a few in business, self-made millionaires, and a couple of brilliant engineers, my Dad being one of them. These men were born in the 1930's, never went to college and yet my Dad taught through internships GA Tech engineering students. Formal education is wonderful, but some people are just plain smart, have great curiosity, and have incredible work ethic. Elon Musk is one of these types, very smart, with a huge amount of curiosity, and a work ethic beyond reproach.
