There had been some hope of a late 2025 start of production but not looking likely unfortunately. Already one year behind schedule.
It's one year behind schedule because of the lawsuits, not because of Rivian. Rivian just took possession of the site in November, just a few months ago, and is expected to have a groundbreaking soon. I suspect we will get a date in the earnings report next week.

R2 was delayed a year precisely because of the lawsuit delay. The 2025 start of production with customer deliveries in 2026 already accounts for the delay.

Hindsight is 20/20, but I wonder if Rivian would still choose this location, knowing the lawsuits ahead of it. What makes this specific location special? Georgia is a pretty big state…

ICE only :(
Rivian’s incentives for this site are pretty substantial, and there are big benefits to the location over others Rivian looked at.

Scout’s location is much smaller, IIRC

Extremely wishful thinking. Based on the current progress, they will be lucky to ship the first vehicles 2nd quarter 2026 unless they work 24/7/365 on everything.

It’s a big state but it is a large site and good communication/train links

Scout already broke ground on their site near Columbia, SC
Sounds like they're still far behind Rivian:

https://www.newsfromthestates.com/a...electric-vehicle-plant-underway-near-columbia

"For now, construction crews are at work leveling out the site. On the south end, workers are drilling 300,000 deep holes and filling them with stone to create underground pillars that will stabilize the soil and hold the weight of the factory."

The site work for the Rivian factory is much further along, including the grading, including the roads and highway interchanges. Those haven't been started yet for the Scout plant.

Again, Rivian has had possession of the site for only three months now. Delays came from the state being unable to deliver upon their end of the timeline because of lawsuits, but the state also came through and steamrollered the objections to make it happen. And even with the delay, the R2 is on track to come out a year sooner than the Scout.
