Hey y’all,

Recently got my auto tonneau replaced with the new version however the rubber seal on the back end is no longer the full width of the bed thus letting a decent amount of water in?

Is everyone’s like this or did someone trim mine too short?

I spoke to Rivian and they said this is intentional and the cover is not supposed to be water resistant. I’m now getting significant water ingress thus making the tonneau somewhat pointless.

Supposed to be like that or it could end up grabbing on the track and ruining the entire cover.

The tailgate isn't sealed to the bed either, so you'd still end up getting water ingress immediately next to the seal.

I had virtually zero water ingress wi the the last cover. Bit of a bummer for road trips with luggage in the bed

You can probably use heat and massage it to be a little wider.

Funny you brought this up, Rivian just left my house and this was one of the items on the ticket. The technician said he checked several other trucks on the lot and they all were short. Mine had about twice as much gap as the one on the service truck but it was still "within specs" according to the technician. The gap pictured is 3/4" but looks like it could be 1" longer without issues. I have about 43k miles on my truck and I swear this seal has shortened over time. I wonder if we can get something aftermarket that would fit in the tracks?

To me freshturk's seal looks fine but kpquinnus's looks like a problem.

I have an appointment for my updated tonneau...I might remove the existing seal and save it just in case.

I just had mine replaced and it looks identical to this. The original had practically no water ingress and had a similar gap, but I have yet to test the new one.

You would think they would just check for a current spike and stop it. But with the amount of resistance maybe it is too close to normal current to work....to too much current and mechanism exploses....
