Correct, that is what I was saying. I currently run the 275/60R20 in Nokian Outposts on my truck that originally came with 21s.
I have factory 20s. And that is the context for my "correct size" [for me] in original post.

If I'm following his posts correctly, OP's vehicle was built with 21" and still on that calibration. But now running 275/65R20. The numbers he is sharing has the 3% difference accounted for.

The Recon Grappler comes in a huge number of variations, at least 8 between 33" - 35"...
3 are 44 psi max pressure (my understanding is you can in theory increase above that pressure but it will not get any additional load increase).

While there may be construction issues for some SL rated tires, I believe it's safe to run them on the Rivian as long as load rating is met...

It sounds like the efficiency is right about the same as the OEM 20" Pirelli, or very slightly better.

Getting 2.44 MPK with the 20” OEM setup,
At 53 F I measured following in All Purpose:
60 mph - 2.2 MPK
65 mph - 2.1 MPK
70 mph - 1.9 MPK
75 mph - 1.7 MPK
Rivian R1T R1S 20" Nitto Recon Grappler AT tires 25% more efficient than Pirelli OEM AT! The holy grail! 1711049354249-en

When does it snow and ice over in SoCal? And nearly all ATs on the market have siping in the tread blocks to cope with light to moderate snow/ice. 3MPSF is a honor system tire industry standard (marketing with some degree of testing backing it). Having it doesn't mean the tire is good enough to plow through a blizzard as if the road is dry... the factory Pirelli ATs are prime example. For occasional use in snow/ice, the 3MPSF rating is not critical.
Legally, 3MPSF or M+S is required in California for travel into the mountains during snow to avoid using traction devices. This comes up a lot when folks start suggesting we "don't need" chains or socks, when it's legally mandated and enforced by CHP to have them in the vehicle during inclement weather.

This and the Toyo Open Country AT III EV are now on my radar. The latter isn't available in the correct size and weight rating yet (275/65R20 116H SL).
The thing that caught my eye with the currently available Toyo though is that it is an LT tire with 123/120S rating but a claimed weight of 53 lbs. That seems like a pretty minimal weight penalty for the extra durability.

Other sizes and ratings are planned, inlucing 275/65R20 116H SL. It's one of the images on the product page.

The only issue I see with the OP's tire is the max tire pressure it's rated for. The Recon Grappler 275/65 r20 116 has a maximum tire pressure of 44psi... Not sure but that could be an issue

Thanks for sharing... you've given many of us something to consider. I've got about 18,500 miles on my OEM Pirelli's; while they have plenty of tread left, the drone is exhausting. I'm a bad day away from swapping them out - and this may be my next tire. Please continue to update as you put additional miles on them.
Agreed with you but would point out that I noticed that awful drone seems to have mostly disappeared after I passed about 24k miles (and still with decent tread). It was pretty awful from an about 15k or so through 24k…but seems to be gone now (mostly)

Brave man! I always thought that at a certain point it would go away... but couldn't tolerate it. This is good to know!

I’ve run 25k miles on my R1T beginning with my Pirelli OEM AT 20”. Those lasted about 17k miles before the noise was unbearable. I’ve tried several tires since then and found the holy grail of looks, comfort, and efficiency:

1. Pierelli OEM AT 275/65/20: good response, traction, and longetivity. Horrible noise and very stiff. Switched out at 17k miles and historical 1.85 M/kw
2. Michelin Defender LTX MS2 in 275/60/20: These reduced the size of my tire to 33”, but it was butter smooth, quiet, and efficiency jumped to around 2.4 M/KW. Looked bland, actually i hated the look. Was going to keep until i put it in sport in a spirited drive. These tires made the rivian dangerous - wobly, lack of traction. I had around 2k miles i changed them.
3. Michelin Defender Platinum 275/65/20: good look, quiet, soft - even for an LT tire. Traction was not great, but steering response was ok. Over 5k miles, it gave me an average of 1.9 M/kw. The reason i changed them out was because vibrations would always come back after 500-800 miles of being balanced.
4. Nitto Recon Grappler AT 116 275/65/20: AWESOME! Soft, quiet (not as quiet as the LTX), awesome look, no vibration. Best of all? I’m averaging 2.4 M/kw in my first 1k miles! I think it will do better once things settle more. The reason i believe so is because my commute is about 30 miles and with these, i’m consuming around 9% whereas my defender LTX was overing around 10%, with the OEM being around 12-13%.

The peson at Discount Tire pushed me towards the Nitto after my fails with the Michelins - i was not going to listen to him, but he said i will not regret. He told me that these weigh like 48lbs, the lightest AT, are 116 so will be soft and quiet vs an LT, and are much more efficient vs the Recon Grappler non AT. I’m so glad i did, so passing along to this forum! Adding pictrures of the three tires so you can see the look.

He deserves it. I had a good bit of arguing of me not wanting the Nittos - he then said, you've already made 2 choices that didn't work out with the Michelins. They can't make any further adjustments, so go with the choice he's making for me. Pretty bold... but he was right.

Does it? There are different offerings within this model line of tires and size. This mix up came up repeatedly in this tread. Need to make sure which variant is spoken of. What OP chose is the one on top, not LT, and just over 11 lbs lighter.
