I've been posting about our trips pulling our camper with the Rivian, and you'd think some of my friends on facebook act like I'm making them come with me on the trips and sit in the car staring at the charger the whole time we are stopped. Trying to find a "gotcha" in my trips that work out as planned.

One thing that seems to particularly upset them is that we try to do all of our food shopping for the trip during the one charging stop we're obligated to do. I point out they either had to make an extra trip before they left, or make an otherwise unnecessary stop just for food.

Fueling up with gas requires someone to be at the vehicle while filling, but charging is just plug in and wait a few seconds to make sure the charger is going to activate.

Oh totally, but that was always going to be a thing. Add the fear of change with a group actively promoting against something and here we are...

I can say here in northern Alabama in the past two years that I’ve had an EV (first a ford mache then my R1T) I have seen a slow change to the usual questions.

Used to be “what are you going to do when you need to replace that big expensive battery.”

To now it’s more the “where going to charge” or “how is it impacting my electric bill charging at home.”

I talk to other EV owners and slowly more people are asking questions about owner ship and stuff that more relevant to making good purchase decisions.

We as EV owners get to point out the good stuff about these vehicles. I tell people I’m not going to tell you to go for it or not I will tell you about my own experiences the good and the bad (which was my own doing an not the R1T or electify america LOL on first long trip).yet all the experiences have been learning one for me.

Agreed. I used to spend time convincing my relatives and friends to buy an EV by trying to answer their questions. But 90% of the time they’d just keep questioning me like what if it runs out of battery. What if the battery caught fire. So now I’m done. I’ll gladly buy another EV. You can stick with your ICE.

Guys, there's a lot of people that do the math and it just doesn't add up. It's not a conspiracy, it's not fear of change.....it just doesn't make sense to them yet for a variety of reasons.

I still think things will change over time. Technology will improve, average prices will come down, infrastructure will get better. It's just going to take longer than some people predicted/expected.

The one thing I hear over and over again from the so-called "anti-EV crowd" is that they don't want anyone trying to force EVs on them. And that's been the sentiment for years now when all the legacy auto manufacturers starting saying that they were ending internal combustion engines by 2030, or 2035 or whatever deadline they claimed at the time.

I'm with you. I remember a time when crafting a pithy news headline that accurately reflected the contents of the article was an art. Now the sole goal seems to be attention grabbing, at the expense of accuracy.

Many in our society seem to want to make any topic they can both divisive and purely binary: us vs. them, 100% right vs. 100% wrong, 100% good vs. 100% bad. The divisiveness and limiting options to only two choices seem to go hand-in-hand since there is no room for discussion or compromise; it’s just a breeding ground for argument. While limiting discussion to only two choices certainly makes things easier for people who don’t want to actually think about a topic, it rarely reflects the reality of most situations.

Many of the topics on here are discussions because of the many options or viewpoints, like tire choices, home L2 charger choices, etc. Any time we get into anything with only 2 choices it seems more likely to devolve into an argument pretty quickly.
